Debunking an email that is circulating the net:: Did you know?
I received the following email from a repuke, so I immediately assume it to be propaganda as that is all he ever sends.
The debunking of the email is accounted in two newspapers as not so true.

The Email: Did you know...
Did you know that 47 countries have reestablished their embassies in Iraq?

Did you know that the Iraqi government currently employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?

Did you know that 3100 schools have been renovated, 364 schools are under rehabilitation, 263 schools are now under construction and 38 new schools have been built in Iraq?

Did you know that Iraq's higher educational structure consists of 20 Universities, 46 Institutes or colleges and 4 research centers, all currently operating?

Did you know that 25 Iraq students departed for the United States in January 2005 for the re-established Fulbright program?

Did you know that the Iraqi Navy is operational?! They have 5- 100-foot patrol craft, 34 smaller vessels and a naval infantry regiment.

Did you know that Iraq's Air Force consists of three operational squadrons, which includes 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport aircraft (under Iraqi operational control) which operate day and night, and will soon add 16 UH-1 helicopters and 4 Bell Jet Rangers?

The debunking of the message:
E-mail about Iraq's unsung gains spurs debate
http://www.freep.com/news/nw/iraq19e_20050919.htm
As e-mail touts progress, reality check finds it's not all black and white
http://www.realcities.com/mld/krwashington/12665877.htm

The message was started by Rex V. Jobe, owner of a Texas-based graphics-design company called The Color Place, said he sent the e-mail to a group of friends and associates last month because, despite reading four newspapers a day, he didn't know much of what the statistics recorded.

1. Iraq was a good country as far as infrastructure is concerned
before America came over there. I wonder how much of this rebuilding is because of our bombing the hell out of them?

Just curious

What's to debunk, really?
Civilians are starving, childern suffer horrific deformities, huge swaths of the nation are without reliable water and electricity, throughout the country armed militia groups basically act with impunity, women's rights are being eroded, and a whole generation is growing up well-trained to hate America.

Do I give a shit if the Iraqi Navy has a pretty new boat?

research required.

Lemme give it a shot....

we are winning the war! Hell we have already won the war. It has been over for a year and all our troops are back home. All those explosions in Baghdad are just science experiments at the 2 brazilian schools we have built. If only the liberal media would tell the REAL story.

16. Did you know also . .
Many of the insurgents were trained by U.S. military personnel because there was no way to know who was on "our side."

We spent and are spending money to teach the other side how to fight us. We are idiots. American Idiots. Now I have to play the cd.

17. Why is it good that they have an exploding national payroll
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 12:56 PM by beyurslf
while Republicans always bemoan that here?
Why is that we can invest in their schools and not ours?

Why should we pay for their children to go to college here while we are cutting the programs that our children to go to college here?

Are the embassies really for all of Iraq or just the green zone in the city of Baghdad?

If Iraq were being attacked by sea then I would stand and cheer their Navy. Unfortunately, since we decimated their infrastructure, their borders having been wide open and terrorists from all over the world have poured in. The attacks are from within the country and the Navy can't do anything to stop those.

That last statement is a flat out lie. If it were true, we wouldn't be hearing about the bombings and killings every day because the country would be under control.

(updated spelling)
