5. The truth? He wouldn't know the truth if he shook hands with it in church.
After all, we know he is not reality based.

I always marvel at Helen's succinct zinger-questions. . .comes with experience. . .no substitute for experienced integrity in a journalist like her.

15. Does the President support the use of torture?
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 01:40 PM by Strawman
McClellean said no. She asked well then why has Cheney been lobbying for exemptions to the ban on torture. MCClellan said that wasn't true, then realizing he had just lied, changed the thrust of his answer to saying that the admin. was committed to doing whatever necessary to protect us from the bad guys out there who are committed to spreading their ideology of hate.

He got pissed because he was caught in a blatant lie. If the President supports tortured justified and thinks it's necessary and justified, why not just say yes he does and here's why? Nope. These guys are so arrogant that they think they can just tell bald faced lies and get away with it because they are aggressive. They think they can bully people into just going along with whatever they say. And for most of the WH Press Corps, that's exactly how it works.

17. Thanks, Strawman. . .
your details reminded me of another quality of Helen's experienced journalism:

she uses Aristotelian syllogism or logic with a:

-major premise (Does B* support the use of torture?)
-minor premise (Cheney is lobbying for exemptions to the ban on torture)
-and then a conclusion. . .which is unspoken but hangs heavily in the room as Scotty bullshits (B* and Cheney support torture!)

Helen is one sharp cookie. . .our wise warrior!

14. Why do they bother...
to have these press briefings when all Scottie says is "can't comment on an ongoing investigation..."??? What if the press just boycotted the briefing one day... Or when Scott answers in his usual way, they should all chime in together and repeat the same old "ongoing investigation" line with him.
