We'll return for your sister's body, the rescuers said. Two months on she was still in the house

Gary Younge in New Orleans
Tuesday November 8, 2005
The Guardian

"Two months later two family friends, John Gaines and Stacey Martin, went to the house. Ms Martin used to clean for the women and Mr Gaines thought taking her to the house would give her some closure.

"I left Stacey alone to get her memories," Mr Gaines says. "She went upstairs and after a while she screamed, 'Sis is in here. Sis is in here.' I thought, 'Here we go. She's hallucinating.' So I went upstairs and sure enough, there was Sis."

Two months after she was first seen, Sis's body lay..."

Two months.

I get the feeling this isn't the first or the last time this has happened.

2. One has to wonder
if there are others, and if so, how many?

All we really know is we probably won't ever know.

People wonder why I'm a libertarian, why I don't like government, why I don't trust. There you go. It's not that I don't think the goverment should help people, it's that I think it typically winds up helping itself more and tends to grow into this monster we have now.

Not that I think everyone should depend on only themselves, but that they had better realize they ARE depending on themselves, whether they know it or not. It's that...that's just usually how it is, no matter WHAT they say. Because they do stuff like this.

Because a monster government does monsterous things like this.

Just to answer the question to the curious; why in the world believe in libertarian principles. I get that a lot, that it's whacked out. I certainly don't expect to convince anybody (mods, I am not recruiting; if I got them, I wouldn't know what to do with them) to become libertarian. I'm fairly well hated around here. Libertarian may be dumb, as socialism may be nuts. But basically, it's not that government shouldn't help, it's that when they say they will, they very well may not. But they got YOUR resources anyway, and, they'll keep them. A big lie. A big, greedy, murderous, war-loving lie. It's not unique here and now, not unique to America. Nothing new in this equation we're seeing. Greed, lies, power and death. Nothing new. Just new ways of communicating about it.

3. I can't believe no one else responded
unless there were other dupes. This is just so awful! I forwarded the news story to several folks I know who are republican and were deeply upset by Bush's ineptness during and after Katrina hit.
