If you're going to run in 2008 I suggest you see the film "The War Room" which is a doc about Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign. All of the adviors that were on Clinton's campaign you can learn a lot from as well. I also suggest watching what Harry Reid is doing now. You can see the film on again on the Sundance Channel at 1:35am and again on November 21st at 7pm est. If you get two Sundance Channel's (I believe the second one is a west) it'll be on again at 9:30pm est.

1. Big difference from 92 - the media is now about 90% GOP controlled. |

Back when Clinton was running he had the advantage of a still fairly balanced press and broadcast media. The corporate control over media hardened in the mid90s.
Clinton also had the advantage of the stream of headlines that showed corruption by Bush administration on IranContra, BCCI, and Iraqgate, as those events started coming to a head legally Bush's last year in office.

I think you can still learn from the campaign though. About how to reply to the media and don't waver on letting attacks stay out there like Kerry with the SBVT guys. Clinton was very good at responding to attacks and in a classy way as well. The guy who was head of his campaign (I can't remember his name now but in the beginning he's the one giving a speech about the attacks and wears a gray sweater) did a very good job at controlling the campaign and everything. I haven't seen the whole thing yet so I'm looking forward to watching the repeat.
