NO AIR FOR O'REILLY: POST YOUR ACTIONS HERE:
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 05:03 AM by sfexpat2000
San Francisco Factlet: The population of San Francisco is about 750,000. A majority does not want their children preyed upon at school

Email action: Write to O'Reilly's sponsors and let them know, our airwaves can't be used against a major American city.

Let's teach O'Liely by example! Be civil and keep it short (under 200 words).

Do it asap and post to this thread when you're done.

2. I just sent out four emails with this letter

Subject: O'Reilly outrageous comments abhorrent

Dear Sir,

This week Mr. Bill O'Reilly invited "terrorists" to attack San Francisco. This man is filled with hate for the United States of America. His hatred for anyone with a differing opinion is Un-American. He hates the freedom this country offers and is now challenging the terrorists to destroy our country.

I respectfully ask you to reconsider your product placement with Bill O'Reilly. It is your choice who you advertise with, but associating your product with a person who is bent on the destruction of this nation will not bring you the good will of the people. If your product is linked with Bill O'Reilly spewing hate speech it may be harmful to your bottom line.

I'm going to call KABC Talk Radio here in L.A. on Monday when the switchboard opens, and lodge a complaint. They have the poor taste to run his syndicated show on weekdays.

I will e-mail the sponsors!

I wish you the best of luck with this. I hope you also receive a ground swell of local support!

6. my e-mail
Bill O'Reilly just called for the terrorists to attack a major American city, San Francisco. This is dangerous and completely irresponsible on-air journalistic behavior. It should not be tolerated in the United States of America! You should not be sponsoring this behavior!

I realize the Republicans are desperate and totally frustrated, but this behavior crossed the "outrageous" line!

Since he seems to think that the entire city of San Francisco is expendable, I am instructing my friends and relatives in that city to immediately stop patronizing, and to sell any stock holdings that they may have in any company that advertises on his inflammatory program.

8. My email.
I think our nation has reached a critical point, at which it seems now to be necessary to take certain stands that I never thought would be needed here. But some elements of our society have, in my opinion, stepped over the line in their fervency, thus forcing the hand of citizens who wish to continue the traditional values our country was founded upon.

It is my understanding that your company is a sponsor of Fox News’ "The Radio Factor", hosted by Bill O’Reilly. While I normally don’t concern myself with what talk show hosts say on their programs, I feel that Mr O’Reilly has overstepped that line. His recent call for terrorists to attack a major metropolitan area of the United States—and his further assertion that the government should do nothing to either prevent this, or render assistance afterward—is the height of anti-American rhetoric. We ought not to tolerate hate speech directed towards our own citizens, many of whom are service members determined to protect the nation from such onslaughts as Mr O'Reilly is advocating.

So I would like to ask you to reconsider your sponsorship of his program. I feel certain that you would not want your company to be associated with the kind of polemic Mr O'Reilly continually engages in. Our nation has built its reputation on promoting positive values, not negative ones. Please help us to continue to do so.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

If so, I would concentrate on local pressure on any radio station carrying his show. How newsworthy it would be for his show to be axed from a station or more over his comments.

Coit Tower, a treasured jewel of an American city, was a WPA project completed in 1933. Murals in the interior are designated Historical Treasures, painted by 26 Master Artists of the time. Coit Tower was built as a monument to San Francisco's Fire Fighters, and is designed in the shape of a fire hose nozzle.

O'LIEly, by inference, supports terrorist attacks on American people, cities and towers, such as The World Trade Center, and states that aid should not come to victims.

He is a traitor, hate monger and supporter of terrorism.

He says he won't back down ~ these people are completely insane. And they have been getting away with their hate speech against their fellow Americans for over a decade now.

I'll write to sponsors also, and will not watch Fox, even to see what they're up to, as long as he is still on the air. Murdoch is already worried about his ratings. There are millions and millions of people in this country who do not want their children bothered at school by military recruiters. O'Reilly is going to regret this, imo. Many people did not know about that sneaky little clause slipped into the No Child Left Behind bill. This should help to inform them. That's the silver lining I see in his outrageous comments.

And, for his information, recruiters must have more fertile ground to find candidates for Bush's invasion. With all the rhetoric I hear from the right, how come they need to go to SF? How about the freepers, O'Reilly himself? There are Vietnam veterans in Iraq, he's not too old to make up for being a draft-dodger in the past. Hannity, Jonah Goldberg, Ann Coulter, why are they not in uniform??

Ann Coulter is another one who has advocated the destruction of her fellow Americans. This has to stop ~ we have ignored it for too long.

Children should not be exposed to this kind of hatred. I fail to understand why it has taken so long to be honest ~

As a native New Yorker who now resides in Florida, I am profoundly disturbed that a radio personality of Mr. O'Reilly's stature (or any American for that matter) would find it acceptable for Americans to suffer in the way that my friends, family and neighbors in NYC did in the 9-11 terror attacks. Please let me know when you sever your relationship with Bill O'Reilly and 'The Radio Factor' so that I may again tune into your programming. Until such time, I can only surmise that you support Mr. O'Reilly's condonation of murderous violence against Americans.

27. Here's my letter to Tempurpedic:
Dear Madam or Sir:

I am a very satisfied owner of one queen size
Tempurpedic mattress. I had planned to buy at least
one more for a guest bedroom.

However, when I heard via "Countdown" with Keith
Olbermann about Bill O'Reilly's completely
unacceptable comments regarding San Francisco, and
learned via the blogosphere that you are one of his
show's sponsors, I changed those plans, as I do not
want to patronize any company that supports such
behavior. This is not an isolated incident; O'Reilly
has demonstrated other bad behavior, such as his poor
citizenship, sexism, and rude behavior on many
occasions. O'Reilly has repeatedly lied in ways
intended to malign, libel, or otherwise harm those
whose political views differ from his own, as
documented in Al Franken's book, and on
mediamatters.org, WITHOUT factual refutation. Why
would you want your high quality product associated
with him?

Surely, there are far more honest and positive shows,
or non-political shows, on which you can advertise.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Dr. (spooky3)

The FCC won't touch this. They only regulate speech if it has sexual content. But contacting sponsors and putting them on the spot is a great idea. SF is not a small market and sponsors aren't going to want to be associated with O'Reilly if we put the heat on.

64. See #20 for SF Chron article link. I'm still looking for a video
type person with a strong stomach to get a clip.

In sum: Because we voted to keep military recruiters off our campuses, he wishes an al Qaeda attack on Coit Tower (monument to our firefighters) and also said if that happened, we'd get no help from the Feds.

Bill O'Liely, great American not.

Yes, he opened his mouth yet again, to use our own airwaves against us.

Enough already.

73. Don't forget the reasonable
argument that showing ads with blowhards who piss off consumers in groups and in regions is much more than a waste of money and shows only that some companies pay tribute to ideological fear rather than sound business practices. If they think giving campaign funds to righties is good for business, that is risky or cowardly enough, but falling on your PR sword for an imnmoral madman ranting uncontrolably????

There are MANY other available media alternatives. Rather than trying to influence content with the occasional complaint(too late, the big mouth already created a sordid association with your product) vote with your feet. Or better, add the more conscientious reason as support of your consumer ALL of them. Better yet, don't do it alone but get a number of other sponsors to go with you. Nor will complaining to the network that encourages such horrible anti-consumer hate programming be as adequate as bolting to another network.

79. Here's my e-mail
Sent it to the sponsors:

Dear Sir,

Recently, Bill O'Reilly publicly invited a terrorist attack on the City of San Francisco, complete with the assertion that no prevention of such attack or aid to the victims of it afterward should occur.

This is on the heels of his declaration that he wished Hurricane Katrina had hit the United Nations building, and that he would not rescue those within it.

Free speech is one thing, but this kind of hateful speech should not be tolerated, let alone condoned by continued sponsorship of the program that he uses as the vehicle for spreading it.

I sincerely hope that you will reconsider your sponsorship of this advocate for terrorism.
Any person who would call for the "blowing up" of a city with 100,000 children in it should be kept a safe distance from, both literallly and as a sound business decision.

Thank you for your time,

XXXX XXXXX (Moosepoop)

83. My letter to Tempurpedic
Dear Sir/Madam:

As a satisfied owner of not only a Tempurpedic king sized bed but also many pillows and other products, I had anticipated buying a queen sized bed for my daughter this Christmas as her main present. However, when I learned that your fine company supported Bill O'Reilly's radio program, I am forced to rethink my purchase in the light of his call for the terrorist destruction of San Francisco. For a company such as yours, making such wonderful products, to support a ranting demagogue simply because he pulls in a few listeners is at the least unwise. Surely no one in San Francisco will buy your products and those millons of us who love that city will no longer do so. Considering that this is not the first time Bill O'Reilly has called for the destruction some public place (please recall that he also stated that the UN could be destroyed and he wouldn't lift a finger to save anyone), it is past time that Tempurpedic pulled its advertising dollars from his program.

Sincerely,

Momster

I would like to also point out he has threatened anyone who has signed online petitions & such by stating he would list thier names on his websight. You all know what lunatics these people are so I percieve this to be a fairly grave threat.
He said this TODAY (you must note this in the complaints) on the RADIO & TELEVISION programs...

94. My letter
When Bill O'Reilly encourages Middle Eastern terrorists to attack an American city, he steps over the line of what is acceptable on-air speech. While Americans may be living during a time when the word "peace" has been transformed into an obscenity by individuals such as O'Reilly, it should be noted that those who oppose the Iraq war have never advocated the targetting of their own countrymen by terrorists. Only someone as irresponsible and vicious as O'Reilly would advocate such a position. The fact that O'Reilly does it for ratings and to sell products makes it all the more reprehensible, because it gives the appearrance of tacit approval, even active support for his views by his sponsors.

I cannot in good conscience support any company who stands by such vile hate speech.
