16. Both, PLUS
1 - they think they are right
2 - they have BSed themselves into believing they are moral
3 - they want power and money, and both are more valuable with a large population of poor people fighting over religious ideology
4 - They truly are Orwellian fascists

14. Carter is right- they want to merge church and state
the theocrats believe only they are right and have the true faith and the radicalrightwing that hates government think they are right-but they are out of power- and the radicalright neocons want a big government, huge military and for the United States to control the middle east and damn the deficit, death, or the fact that government is huge and bigger than ever.

They all see things as good v evil, in a very narrow black and white you are with us or against us fashion- they all have that Manichean idea in common.

And the American people hit with a double whammy- fear of moral collapse (cultural wars) and hit by 9-11 and fear of terrorists ( a war with Islam) were duped into believing the shrub was the right man in such times and his associates were the right group to help lead us to moral and world victory.

trouble is they are corrupt, stupid, and over reaching.

23. I think the others are secular as hell.
The neocons use religion to control the masses and blab about the values hype.

I don't think the oligarch coproratocracy is particularly religious either.

12. CONning & CONned: greed & greed.
1. The CONning, greedy to be recognized as better than others.
2. The CONned, greedy to transfer shame away from themselves.

1.
Destroy government by the people. (Divide, addict)
Stratify wealth into few managable hands. (tax poor, detax rich)
Create aristocracy to prove themselves better than others. (death tax)
Destablize economy to busy and quiet the poor. (SS reform)

2.
Transfer abortion youthful failure to law's failure.
Transfer youthful sex failure to blather about gays.
Maintain loud strong stances to drown weak voice of shame. (guns, war)

All in vain.
Vanity, vanity, all is vanity, thus sayeth the preacher.

21. Some of the leadership is just as CONned.
They believe the talking points. And, if they don't, they believe those talking points are keeping their babies in diapers. They're CONned. It's greed.

Some hope to get that revolving door into a high-paying private industry job that needs an ex-government employee. They're CONning. It's greed.

Some may think the fall of Communism proves the opposite of communism -- ignoring the concept of a mix. They may be insane. They may be altruistic, or such as long as the benefit also reaches themselves. Their faulty little minds are unimportant. Like arguing about which anthill is highest on a mall's parking lot.
