I just met Al Franken!
He was signing his book at the Yale Bookstore, right after his broadcast live from Yale's Woolsey Hall (which I had to miss because I was working). I was buying it for my son in law who is a political consultant for Dems and loves Franken's show. Al signed the book "To Richard. Nice mother-in-law! Al Franken"

He's got that great laugh and cracked a few jokes to the largely Yalie crowd. I was glad to see the kids there.

I got so completely carried away, I sailed out of the store with my friend, so excited and giddy that I forgot to pay for the book! A sheepish me called the bookstore when I got home and gave them my credit card number. They were nice about it (the clerk laughed).

2. I loved that he went to W's alma mater today and dissed him good!
Dissecting the lies one by one. It went real good with my morning coffee!

7. god, I'm sorry I missed the broadcast!
I can NEVER forgive Yale for awarding that honorary doctorate on him a few years ago. I protested along with LOTS of Yalies on the Green across from the Old Campus where they had the graduation. I think Al went to Harvard, so I'm glad he did a number on W.

Overheard on Al's cell phone conversation as he was walking into the bookstore, he did say "I guess I have to stop criticizing the president." Maybe Rick Levin (prez of Yale)got a little ticked at him!

3. If he runs for Senate in Minnesota, he's got my vote
He's brilliant and tough enough to take them on.

6. Here's one of my pics from his Union Square NYC appearance:

He just finished posing for the cameras on his way to the podium.
