So Why Has Georgie Bush Gone To Japan And China? |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 10:38 AM by Mark E. Smith
As is always the case with Georgie, you need to look beneath the surface to uncover the real motives. Motives that once understood never seem to be quite as sanguine as the president's PR would indicate.
My take? Bush has gone to Japan and China is to beg for more loans so that he can float another round of what he hopes will be approval enhancing tax cuts. "Free Trade" (the ostensible reason for this trip) in this case meaning the capital providing states will be assured of continued unfettered access to U.S. markets without having to endure the indignity of our expecting any such advantages in return.
There are, of course, other benefits for Georgie as well. Japan and China will both work very hard to give the appearance of welcoming a valued and highly esteemed individual to their respective countries, affording Georgie the many image enhancing photo-ops he so obviously craves. And why shouldn't they? By turning America into a happy hunting ground for our Asian economic rivals, hasn't Bush proven to be the most valuable of economic assets?

When was this trip planned? I first heard about it the day before he left.

2. Maybe he needs a new flatscreen and some cheap shoes. |
|
It's certainly not because he wishes to improve relations with either country or their peoples. Just to convince the Chinese workers that they're well off being slaves for their American corporate taskmasters. The Japanese? Maybe he want's to show good old Dad how eating suchi is supposed to be done...throw up in the bathroom away from cameras.

as well.
I don't think he is going to get much in return from what I read. The trade imbalance is massive, and he doesn't seem to have much bargaining power.
good analysis!
