Children: The Future Of This Country
We are not our last best chance! The children being raised by DUers are the back-up plan. Post pics or talk about your children. Tell us why the future is brighter because of them.

5. wait
are they twins?
Mine are 17 months and I also have a three year old. All boys, and all running wild at the moment. I don't know how to post a picture. My future is brighter because of them first of all because I wasn't even supposed to have them. I have some crazy blood disorder that I didn't even know I had until my husband and I lost two babies. The doctors didn't think we would be able to have kids. Thanks to blood thinners - here they all are!
They are great! My three year old already says "Mommy there's that bad guy" when Bush is on TV. When he sees that I am having a hard day he says "don't worry mommy I will carry you." What a cool kid. My other two don't talk yet, but they are something else too.

I don't know about superior, but I'll take the compliment! I generally try not to watch too much tv in front of them that isn't made for their age, but my son is pretty bright and I guess kids do pick up on every little thing that they hear. :) I'm waiting for him to say something like that at grandma's house - she's a big fan of *. We can't even talk politics anymore if we want to stay on speaking terms at all. I know she thinks I am destroying her grandchildren, but she wouldn't dare tell me that.

edit for spelling

20. Out Of The Mouths Of "Babes"...
Apparently my teenage nephew came down to breakfast one morning and asked, "What idiot could have possibly voted for B***." My brother said he burst out laughing as his wife turned beet red.

28. Now that's funny!
That's the type of thing I can see my youngest (the younger twin) saying when he is older. He is the one that I think will be the revolutionary type. I'm hoping anyway. He's got some attitude, and such a little guy, with an angelic face, but also a "thinker". People always comment on him being the "ringleader" of the three of them. Kind of a weird observation, but I guess we'll see as they get older.

12. Children
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself,
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them,
but do not seek to make them like you,
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth ....
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness.

22. Regarding parenthood:
"Another most powerful agent that gave native man promise of developing into a true human was the responsibility accepted by parenthood. Mating among Lakotas was motivated, of course, by the same laws of attraction that motivate all beings; however, considerable thought was given by parents ... to the choosing of mates. And a still greater advantage accrued to the race by the law of self-mastery which the young couple voluntarily placed upon themselves as soon as they discovered they were to become parents. Immediately, and for some time after, the sole thought of the parents was in preparing the child for life. And true civilization lies in the dominance of self and not in the dominance of other men."
-- Luther Standing Bear; Land of the Spotted Eagle

Enjoy this part of your life, Dr. Strangelove.

17. My kids are generous and kind-hearted.
They're five and eight.

They're both concerned about helping the planet, helping poor people, and helping animals. Naturally, they despise George W. Bush.

For his last birthday party, my son asked for donations to an animal shelter instead of presents.

23. My only son:
Fifteen years old, curious, skeptical, independent, affectionate, recalcitrant, bright, handsome, challenging, loving, adaptable, lazy *LOL*, popular, worldly, "KEWEL"!!!

He's good to go because he is more than a survivor,...he's resilient, knowledgeable and concerned.

I'm sayin' this on a "bad day"!!! *LOL*

29. *lol* Um, yup!
He is quite a challenge; but, a "challenge" with a conscience. I emphasized his capacity to be both independent and thoughtful. So, I can't complain and, frankly, I "mostly" admire the man he is becoming. :7

It's a love thing.

 Yours are beautiful,...a reflection of you.

25. I Do Not Have Children ... One major reason is...
I do not have children. One major reason is that I feel our country and this earth are both in severe decline. I have no hope that it will get better, and I cannot bear to bring in a new "love of my life" into this world.

I'm barely hopeful that for my next sixty years (max) the world won't become a nuclear wasteland, but I honestly believe that nuclear war and worse will probably occur during the lifetime of any child born today.

It's tragic but true. I believe the earth needs no more people at this time, not when our leaders are trying to kill us all anyway.

32. I must agree. Worse,
6 billion miracles is more than enough.

And worse: The children we've created will grow up to hate our guts.
