Can the Democrats truly say they can reverse *'s policies and high costs? |
|
Ditto for the job problem.
That's what worries me. If they say they can, but cannot actually follow through, it means they're done.
If they can't say it, why not?
People are pissed because of no jobs and higher prices. They WILL vote for somebody who will help them.
For that's all they care about; particularly since our republican leaders keep telling us "ownership" this and "invidualism" that and "fuck everyone else" shit.
Hoisted by their own petard, they are.
But can the Dems truly do a thing if given carte blanche?

1. They have to make it clear that it is going to be tough |
|
to fix what is wrong with this country. They have to say, yes, we might raise your taxes but we're not going to send you to war, we're not going to give your tax dollars to companies like Halliburton, we're not going to out CIA agents as political payback, we're not going to sell off our countries assets to the highest bidder, we're not going to....
Basically, we're not going to be the Republicans. They have to make it clear that things are in such disarray, that people will have to SACRIFICE to make them better (you know, like people usually have to do when there's a war)!

love and cherish so much Democrats controlled Congress and America Prospered. Just look at our past and it is plain which Party is best for America both socially and economically.

6. They never give credit to Democrats for any economic prosperity. |
|
According to them, the great economy of the 90's was due to Reaganomics. Never mind that it took 12+ years to actually come too fruition and it happened under a Democratic President and in spite of a republican controlled Congress. They never get it!

3. I'm sorry to say that is will be very expensive to repair the damage. |

This is why Canada is now playing hardball with Mr. Bush. I hope that someday, the USA will once again join us Canadians as part of the free, fair, and just world.

5. What about Kerry, Edwards, Clark, et al |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-16-05 07:01 PM by wadestock
There was substance there....but people weren't tuned in. Just a quick look. Kerry.... - Support tax breaks to companies that didn't outsource. - Repeal tax breaks to rich....an instant chemo for the cancer of runaway self-destructive capitalism. - Responsibility of our actions, and in the world community, etc. etc Edwards - At the very least, an affordable preventative health care system....which no one can argue with is a sound business decision and saves Americans billions long term.
Plus ongoing arguments to not destroy social security, believe in the reconstruction of the entire middle east, etc, etc.
Yes...there's this Limbaugh inspired rub that "the dems don't have an agenda".... but to believe that is to be brain dead.
The fixes are simple.... In fact, to do NOTHING...would be an improvement...ie....gridlock of government is better than what we have now....
Don't jump on the bandwagon that the dems don't have a "set" agenda.
People have to be getting the idea that they'll do infinitely better than Bushco, no matter what worst elements you could possibly cobble together.
But this is not really the point... The point for the dems this time around is....HOW TO WIN.
1. Expect all out character assassination, ala swift boat level etc. 2. Get Hillary the hell out....as soon as possible and move to a realistic candidate like Clark as soon as possible. 3. Attack on "principle" ...which is what Clark so eloquently stated...."be proud to be a democrat". Stand proud and belief it...don't be weak and act like we're on the defensive. Clark is the only one that brought that forth in my opinion.
It is the compassion and concern for others that creates the real teamwork that made America great....not the self-destructive policies of individual selfishness that the repukes embellish. Clark can articulate this perfectly.
