tomorrows headline: House Backs Iraq Policy....Defeats Democrats
They will spin this vote ad nauseum. They will crow that this is vindication for the president. They will call it a defeat of the Murtha resolution although WE will know it is not.

10. Most folks don't watch C-SPAN on Friday night. It will be interesting
to see how it is 'interpreted' by the media. Of course only the brilliant, politically astute members of DU watch C-SPAN (on Friday Nite)
O8)

6. Why not a headline "GOP leader calls for immediate withdrawal" but
gets shot down by his own party. that sounds good to me.

7. I think the press has gotten a spine stiffening recently.
This will not save all, or be all, or be the top most anything, but another example of the deviousness of the repubs. People do not vote for a resolution if it is a bad one. At least smart people. Some vote no politcally, most dems voted no because it was just a bad resolution. I bet another resolution will be coming up soon. Ignore Oreilly and krauthammered and all those people. They will always say something bad. This was a really good thing that happened tonight.

9. Major defeat for the Democrats. This is a disaster, but a small one
Once again we will be painted as complainers/obstructors without a plan of our own. Our side is so politically blind it almost hurts.

Of course, our guys will use the nuance route like they did on the IWR, but the public doesn't understand nuance--ask Kerry about that.

It won't change the public's growing dislike of the Iraq mess, though. Sadly, now that anger won't rally to our side.

The Repugs pulled a brilliant maneuver and the Democrats fell right into the trap.

11. All they did was give Murtha a platform to shed more light on this fiasco.
And think he did so, brilliantly!

12. Disagree
The big story tomorrow and Sunday will be that the Iraq war debate has hit the big time again.

The thing is, now most Americans are against this war and against Bush.

And ... the big star of the show tonight was Murtha ... he can be on any talk show he wants to spread the message.

With Sheeehan camping out in front of the 'Lazy W' over Thanksgiving, the tide has turned against the radical Republicans.

Huge blunder by the idiot radical Republicans today.

14. Calling it the "Murtha Resolution" at all is handing them a victory.
This was a Republican stunt, and the author was Duncan Hunter. Hunter didn't vote for his own resolution.

The Republicans are playing their tired old political games with the most serious of issues; war. They should be tarred and feathered for their disrespect of the country, and their own political offices.

17. I agree with you. That's where the distinction MUST BE MADE.
It's just confusing enough. Will they spin it as the death of the Murtha vote? If they can you bet they will.

15. Tomorrow's GOP attack ads:
Fade in:

Picture of sad-faced soldier in Iraq (fade out).

voiceover:
House Democrats voted twice to support Bush's war in Iraq. So why do they criticize the president now? (Flag montage) (fade out)

Fade in: pics of Bush and troops. 9/11. Burning buildings in Iraq.

voiceover: Stay the course. Rally around the president. You can't have it both ways. You're either for us or against us.

This ad brought to you by the Save our Asses GOP Committee to prolong the war until after 2008 election.

16. Seems to me the headlines should read ......
"Repubs playing games in the House concerning the war in Iraq while more troops die." These freaks are ignoring the REALITY on the ground over there and continue to spout 'slogans' in this never ending 'stay the course' b.s. Pathetic, and hopefully America is finally waking up to their deceit. Peace. :)

22. Hello, this is Friday....
and when the talking heads get done with it this weekend, the headlines will be a little different, and below the fold. This is just the first salvo. Bush's war is toast.
