They keep running this story about a Oklahoma Pastor getting punched....

The problem is everytime I look at the video it does look like the guy attemding the service didnt actually hit him, to me it looked like a very good chorographed stunt, if the guy did make contact from the angle of the punch he would have hit the RIGHT not the LEFT eye.

Something just doesnt add up I think it was a fake, do we know if the guy throwing the punch was ever charged and also can someone post the video so we can all have a look again?

2. It was probably some deranged guy

A lot of severely mentally ill people are drawn to revivals. They may have "mixed emotions" about religion, and attacks are not unknown.

I'm not a fan of tent-revival fundamentalism, but this doesn't have the look of an insidious plot by any means.

On the other hand, you can't be faulted for having suspcions. They fundies have gotten very devious.

It makes me even more suspicious, if someone can find a high quality video I'd like to take another look at it because when the media shows the video its so quick and they move onto another story.

3. I thought the same thing....

It looked like a glancing hit well below the eye on the right, but the pastor put his hand up to his left eye right away. The second time the guy "hit" him, it was on the left eye, but it wasn't a direct hit either.
It didn't add up to me either. It definitely looked like a "Hollywood" stunt to me also.
Very odd story with few details.

Once again, if there were no video there would be no story.

This is the very basic purpose of TV news. Gather video, then create a story around it. Play it over and over, and allow it to consume broadcast time. It's how they get away with not presenting real news.

The man has been arrested. The pastor visited him in jail and the attacker gave no explanation for the attack or an apology. He also has previous convictions of burglary and domestic violence I believe.

Now Pastor Dougherty is a blowhard imo, but to say this was staged doesn't add up.

Not exactly I was thinking he did it because he wanted more fame which = more parishners and more money, the whole video still doesnt look right to me but since an arrest was made, I guess it wasnt a stunt unless he paid some guy with an existing criminal record to do this, if its true he'll probably spill the beans if he receives a long sentence.
