Need help correcting freeper that insists that Clinton was a felon |
|
due to his desertion after being drafted for 'Nam and was pardoned by Jimmy Carter. This particular freeper also insists that Lt AWOL received the highest marks in his unit and flew well and above the average number of hours in his unit. This freeper also says that Lt AWOL's CO scored him the best pilot in the unit.
I need help putting this to bed one way or another. Both the Clinton thing and the * thing...
Help, links, facts etc would be appreciated..

1. Is it worth your time? |
|
If someone really believes that Clinton was pardoned by Carter for some felony, why bother arguing with them?

4. Clinton didn't desert, he was never there. |
|
He had one of those deferments because he had a high draft number thus never drafted. Plus he was never arrested. Whistle ass on the other hand is definitely a felon. That bastard was arrested 3 times AND he was awol.

5. Snopes covered the Clinton thing |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-16-03 09:23 PM by Ivory_Tower
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/politics/clintondraft.aspThey're not particularly flattering of Clinton for this episode, but he wasn't a deserter.

16. I was a guard pilot at about the same time. |
|
Our periods of service overlapped by a couple of years.
We were a photo-recon squadron in Birmingham. As I remember it I got 4 check rides a year: instrument flying, formation flying, air refueling, and photo/visual reconnaissance. I think they were all pass-fail. Either "satisfactory" or "unsatisfactory", not A, B, C, D, etc. As far as I know there was no criteria for "extra good" or anything like that. Of course we knew who the more skilled and less skilled were in the outfit, but nothing on paper to that effect that I remember. One giveaway would be if a guy had busted check rides and had to have a re-check. This would be in his permanent record.

Snopes is obviously sympathetic to right-wingers (they're very uncomfortable writing about Limbaugh's "take the bone outta your nose" comment), but in the end, they will pick truth over their politics.
(While you're there: if your stomach is strong, check out the Photo Gallery and look for the ones with the "disturbing image" warning! Real or faked, they're vomitactular.)

7. Someone please correct me if I misremember, but ... |
|
Carter did pardon some who avoided the draft. He pardoned those who permanently relocated to Canada, so they could come back into the US to visit their families, and move back to the States if they wanted to. Since Clinton didn't desert, he wasn't part of that pardon -- but you know Freeper logic.

9. Clinton WAS and IS a felon |
|
for war crimes against the people of Sudan and Serbian people of Kosovo whom his actions endorsed their ethnic cleansing. I think clinton was an asshole president which is why we have bush to start with.... don't get me started... ;-)
The Sudan incedent alone is far more inciteful than any of the bush-war starts... and should be persecuted no matter what you think of his folksy speaches and good economy. crime is a crime. If a murder kills some people and then saves an old lady from a bus, does that make a hero? Perhaps, and in my book of life, indeed so... but in a court of law.. no. Clinton did some bad crime to protect his ass politically during the lewinski scandal, and he should do time for it... no wonder he's happy with his flat in ireland... away from ground zero for his crimes.

You are completely off the handle about Clinton-- tinfoil city IMHO. Clinton is not a felon & there was NO "big crime" connected with his Lewinsky relationship. You are (my apologies) blathering half-truth & pure fiction.

never mind, a new addition to my ignore list. Anyone who attacks President Clinton for defending the people in Kosovo against Serb aggression is beyond hope...
