I refer to the idea that Americans are assholes, no better than Pinochet.
America has finally awakened from a nightmare that fully fifty percent of us knew we were having, from the gitgo. It was a nightmare in which our sense of security was disrupted and we turned to the wrong group of men for help.
We have been manipulated, we have been controlled and we have been deceived. We did lie to us? Bushco did. We didnt attack Iraq. Bushco did and as soldiers, there was no way they could shout "No way!"

We were shocked into irrational behavior and thinking as a result of 911 but we are waking up and as long as we stay away, we can change things. We can kicked their scurvy asses out of office in November and take it all back in 2008.

But to beat ourselves over the head and make juvenile claims about people who simply are not savvy about what is going on is totally counterproductive.

Sure there are assholes in this country but this is NOT a country of assholes. There is a distinction between the two. There are liars, cheats, thieves, and traitors, but they are not ALL OF US.

SO KNOCK IT OFF AND FOCUS ON THE JOB TO BE DONE RATHER THAN SANCTIMONIUS SELF FLAGELATION.
