Dam, they really don't like dissent over at FR
took me a good two minutes to get kicked off. All i did was suggest that calling muslims "muslimes" only belittled any conversation going on. That place is a shithole, horribly put together.

1. That's the difference
Here, you're kicked off for making racial slurs.

There, youre kicked off for NOT making racial slurs.

Subtle difference.

4. Yeah, it's like the pre-1960's deep south there.
I saw one thread about Katrina & someone there was civilized enough to call people black, but they got jumped on and someone said "You're giving them too much credit, you're supposed to call them n*ggers.":eyes:

Yeah, the board is a piece of trash too. If you've never seen how (crappy) internet message boards looked like prior to 1995 then, there you have it at FR.

2. I've been kicked off a few times.
Once for pointing out that under the Canadian Constitution the only way for the Conservative Reform party to change the definition of marriage back to a man and a woman was to use the "notwithstanding clause" of the Constitution.

That's the simple truth and what in that constituted grounds for banning is beyond me.

I'm back there though, doing my bit. I have noticed that one area they tolerate dissent is on the ID/Evolution threads. The rational people are kicking ass of the creationists.

8. A lot of them are hobgoblin computer programmers
They tend to believe in science. But they hate everyone who isn't a computer programmer. And they all think that because they stay up all night cruising the Internet, drinking Jolt and playing their X-Boxes, they're suddenly smarter than anyone else in the world.

3. They really do shoot the messenger.
Edited on Mon Dec-19-05 03:36 PM by firefox
Shoot the messenger is a type of fallacy in logic. FR plays shoot the messenger all the time when commenting on things being said by libruls. If you try to talk sense there they will shoot you too, and in a hurry, as you found out.

9. "bless his heart"
There is this "thing" in the south. You can say whatever you wish about whomever you wish as long as you follow-up with "bless his/her heart." It's a license to insult.

Funny thing is, the same is true on FR. As long as one remembers to praise Jesus and toss in superflous supporting of the troops... rarely does anyone give you a cross-eyed glance.

10. If you're not a bigot, you're not welcomed.
They are the lowest people on the planet, by any objective standard.
