A lot of you have blogs, and one of the best ways to get traffic and new readers to your site is with blog carnivals.
I started the
Carnival of the Liberals but here's another blog carnival that works for liberal and progressive bloggers. Unlike Carnival of the Liberals, CoBH is not selective and we'll take anything you care to send us! Some of the big time bloggers have been involved with CoBH like Orac (
http://oracknows.blogspot.com) so CoBH is a chance at getting some real exposure.
The following is reposted from Neural Gourmet. We really need submissions. Only a very few have come in so far and time is running out.
The
Carnival of Bad History is coming to
Neural Gourmet. On December 22, 2005 NG is playing host to the fourth installment of one of the most unusual and entertaining blog carnivals on the web. CoBH is a quarterly blog carnival that was started by John McCay of
Archy as a way of bringing awareness to and having fun with all the patently bad history that we see on TV and in the movies. Politicians and celebrities seem to have an unique talent for spinning it. Republicans seem to spew it out by the ton!
What is bad history? From the home site of the CoBH, it’s bad history whenever:
- History is badly presented. This is usually in TV, movies or books. For instance, if you see a Roman soldier wearing a digital watch then you can be pretty sure it’s bad history.
- History is badly used. Ever known a politician to draw unjustified historical parallels or even outright lie about a historical event? No? Your cable TV must be out! You need to be reading the Carnival of Bad History more.
- Historians behave badly. While it’s unlikely you’re ever going to see a Historians Gone Wild! video, historians are all too human. Plagiarism, corporate sell-outs, frequent appearances on TV talking head shows… All bad history for the most part.
With a little
less than three days away, we need your submissions. All the details can be found on the Carnival of Bad History home site but any blogger is eligible to participate. There’s no need to be a professional historian. A blog, an opinion and a tasty bit of bad history are the sole requirements.
You can use the
feedback form at NG to send me your submissions. Just put ‘Bad History’ in the subject and be sure to include a link directly to the blog post you’re submitting. Alternately, you can e-mail me the same information. Send your submissions to theneuralgourmet@neuralgourmet.com. All submissions should be in by December 21 at 8:00 PM EST.
If you’d like to check out the past installments of the Carnival of Bad History, here are the links as well as the link to the home site again.
