The press corps at todays press conference.... |
|
There were a couple of good questions but they did not get to the bottom of the story. I thought they should have held Mr Bush's feet to the fire when he started talking about needing to get things done "fast and quick"? How do you do it "faster and quicker" by not going thru the FISA court? Don't you have the authority to do it as "fast and quick" as you wish, and you have 72 hours to tell the court? How are you hindered by that process, Mr Bush?

1. If they had held his feet |
|
to the fire about all the things he needs to account to us for, he would not be able to wear those fancy boots with the Prezuhdential Seal for a good many years.

2. whenever I see a press conference I think 10 DUer's are |
|
probably better and more informed and could ask better follow-up questions than what the professional press does. I know part of that is the bravado that an anonymous id allows one. We are trained for deference, and in the Beltway, deference also equals entre which also translates into one's meal ticket.

an average high school newspaper reporter would have dug deeper and not let the prez weasel away with so much.
What is wrong with the press??? Really ! Are they lazy?? Are they dumb?? Are they just poor journalists? Are they on the take??
I just don't get it.... but I do know that the press is not doing their job very well at all.
I hope they get better ...soon

4. * made it clear that FISA was the wrong way to go because he wasn't lookin |
|
to monitor, he was looking to detect. A lot more far reaching than asking for a particular "suspect". Am I wrong on this? What he was looking to do FISA couldn't do because it was ILLEGAL.

5. Yeah, they mostly sucked. I really expected some of them to do more |
|
of the McClellanizing they've done the last few months, so I was pretty disapointed.
BUT! I really think that Bush was SO WHINY and SO DEFENSIVE today that it will bode badly for him. Obviously he has something to hide and anyone really listening should realize he never answered the tough questions. Plus, even for the half-listeners and koolaid drinkers, he REALLY looked like a spoiled college frat boy even while he spouted fascist rhetoric...I think anyone who watched the conference today will be turned off.

6. Fast and quick has been his M/O |
|
Just plow over it and get it done. Let the chips fall where they may. After all you can lie about it afterwards. Always the rush, to invade Iraq, to kill SS and Medicare, to drill ANWAR. God damn those natural disasters like Katrina that slow the agenda up.

And the messes are so numerous, everyone is simply overwhelmed just thinking about cleaning them up?
