The 'War on Christmas' - The Far Right's Experiment
Edited on Mon Dec-26-05 08:49 PM by ck4829
I believe that with this 'War on Christmas' stuff going on, something flew under the radar.

Whenever it comes to Extremism this size, religion is not a factor.

Islam is the pinky of the hand that belongs to the body of Al Qaeda, just as Christianity is when it comes to the Far Right, so Jesus is not the Reason for the Season when it comes to the RW in America.

They are testing the waters guys. It's getting serious, let me tell you what I think they're doing.

They tell a company to bend to their will, it does, they do it to another company, and so on and so forth.

There WILL be another 'War on Christmas' next year, just as their was a 'War on Christmas' last year.

Next year, the demands coming from the 'christian' Right WILL be greater.

This 'War on Christmas' was just a front to see how much they can push America around, I think it's time we start pushing back.

2. A Good Action to fight the boycotts of the AFA...
Edited on Mon Dec-26-05 08:56 PM by ck4829
I think we need to make a network even bigger than that of the AFA's and threaten to boycott companies that surrender to the demands of the AFA and other 'christian' Right groups.

There should be a watchdog group to keep an eye on their boycotts and the companies that buckle.

3. I hope you're wrong
:\ That wouldn't be good. I hope you're wrong. But I wouldn't be surprised. They did this last year too I remember but it wasn't this big.

4. I do fear that the Religious Reich is trying to make certain corporations
bend their way.

Many of sent emails and made telephone calls to Ford. Ford met with pro-GLBT-rights organizations, and backed down in terms of its alleged agreement with the extremist American Family Association.

Now, am I going to have to tell Mattel that I will not be buying their toys, including the very expensive American Girl Merchandise my daughter enjoys. Mattel used to support Girls Inc., which promoted the idea of planned parenthood and affirmation of diversity. Now, it is waffling, and saying that it will not support Girls Inc. after 2005.

I wish that progressive activists would help with getting Mattel to reverse its position.

6. They just want to extort corporate contributions to their money machines
so they can help keep electing Republicans which are 1) friendly to business and 2) friendly to fundies. There's something in it for both of them. The Abramoff Indian casino thing is a classic example of how they do it.

9. It's a protection racket
"we love that little business your have here. Wouldn't it be a shame if it burned down? Maybe you should consider hiring us to protect you?"

10. Or if the currently friendly business political climate
suddenly would become somewhat unfriendly. The fundies certainly are full enough of theirselves and have balls big enough to do it. No question about that.

8. I don't think it's part of some grand scheme. You'll notice that even the
GOP homepage said Happy Holidays. O'riely and company make lots of money off of this because it infuriates people. It's just ratings. The AFA and other groups react to the fake news and start boycotting. But, I will concede that it is a good wedge issue to distract people for the shady dealings of the Bush Admin.

11. They tell a company to bend to their will, it does,...
They threatened Kraft over sponsorship of the Gay Games. Kraft told them to drop dead. They threated Ford over advertising. Ford said OK, but changed its mind after a week. Microsoft buckled, but didn't it change its mind too?

The "power" of the religious right is all in their head. It is 100% bluster and 0% substance.

15. The "war on Christmas" is a non-issue and a figment of the Right Wing's
Imagination and should be treated as such. treating it any differently only gives it credibility.
