Poll question: Do you watch cable news?
By cable news I mean CNN, CNN Headline News, MSNBC, Fox News (shudder), CNBC, etc.

Also ESPN and Comedy Central do not count as news for purposes of this poll (despite their greater journalistic integrity).

1. On rare occassions I will watch CNN, not for the propaganda, but for the
immediate images. The last occassion on which I did so was during the Katrina crisis.

I have never been inspired to watch shows on which bleating heads "discuss" the news, or worse, claim to "analyze" the news. The only value these stations have is images. They are often best watched with the sound turned off.

3. No television.
I don't watch the dang thing.......there is one in the living room, I didn't buy it, and would be quite happy not to have it.

To be quite honest, a head injury left me with the inability to distinguish between background and foreground noise, and I find the television to be too much disruption for too little information or entertainment.

4. when I know what they are telling people I feel
I can get a sense of what the damned "powers that be" are up to.........and whether it is working or not.

I don't watch it often enough to get my head spinning in circles though. cuz that can be ugly!

12. I haven't actually sat through a whole cable news program since 11/2004
Haven't really been watching the network news either, for that matter, now that right wing shills are firmly in place on all three networks (With tinfoil firmly in place, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out someday that Peter Jennings was a BCE murder because he refused to step down when Rather and Brokaw did :tinfoilhat: )

Other than bits and pieces of the Tsunami coverage a year ago and the Katrina disaster, I've pretty well avoided it, and get my news online or from Air America radio.

The one exception is the Sunday morning talk shows. I don't watch them religiously as I used to, but if I'm awake and not doing anything else (and especially if Biden's NOT on) I'll probably watch a couple of them.

14. My favorite stand up ends his set with a series of oxymorons
the last is "Fox News".

"Cable news" is also an oxymoron.
