revolution? cause that's the only way this gang is going away, by our will. revolution, and it doesn't have to be a bloodbath either, just the majority of americans coming to the realization that it's going to take a revolution like the one in 1776 against king george.

remember when mentioning the "I" word would get you laughed out of here? the "R" word will soon have the same familiarity.

1. Maybe we won't need the "R" word if our leaders would
just DO the "I" word.

:hi: Mornin' mopaul. Hope you had a nice - whatever it is you celebrate. ;)

2. I fear more with each passing day that you are correct
This nation is headed for a revolution unless something changes.
You can only lie to the people so long before they realize what has been going on. Lets pray that the people realize before it is too late.

3. I thought you meant "regime" change!
Well, it is sort of the same thing. I hesitate at the "R" word though, for it could prove to be very wasteful of our remaining resources. I am going to stick with impeachment for now, Thank you.

4. To quote John Lennon: You better FREE YOUR MIND instead
You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

5. normally i don't get into these threads.
because i think that people are naive.

but if you believe that evidense supports the idea there is a new branch of government i.e. executive, legislative, judicial and CORPORATE then -- yes things will have to take a great deal of hard work.

you will have sell liberla, socialist ideas/ideals in the same way the republicans in the 70's decided to sell conservatism/neoconservatism.

you will have to set yourself a task that will take a long time -- and work toward with out fatigue -- it's hard to do.
and liberals don't have the equivalent of a ''virtuous citizen'' base i.e. conservative/moderate christians.

6. Remember, it took time after watergate before the people got
behind the ideal that Nixon had to go. Even then there were still people out there that thought Nixon did nothing wrong and were calling it a witch hunt right up to the day Nixon resigned in digrace. GW has been on a down hill run for a year now, slowly his base support has been eroding. With the bogus war on xmas and the Iraq mess pluss the lies to start war, bush has very little support. Even the fundies are starting to turn, sure theres a few die hards that continue, but even Fox news is losing viewers now. People are starting to wake up. Whats going to be GW's down fall is when winter kicks into high gear and the price for heating fuel goes up, also gas is at all time highs once again. These are the things that will hang Bush.

7. Revolutionary times ......
"...These are revolutionary times. All over the globe men are revolting against old systems of exploitation and oppression and out of the wombs of a frail world new systems of justice and equality are being born. The shirtless and barefoot people of the land are rising up as never before, 'The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light.' .... A genuine revolution of values means in the final analysis that our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional. Every nation must now develop an overriding loyalty to mankind as a whole in order to preserve the best in their individual societies. This call for a world-wide fellowship that lifts neighborly concern beyond one's tribe, race, class and nation is in reality a call for all-embracing and unconditional love for all men. .... We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today ... We must move past indecision to action ... Let us begin now. ... The choice is ours, and though we might prefer it otherwise we must choose in this crucial moment in human history."
-- Martin Luther King, Jr.; A Time to Break Silence (Beyond Vietnam); April 4, 1967

16. Yep. It's silly to speak out. We must keep silent lest we be called names.
Edited on Wed Dec-28-05 09:38 AM by TahitiNut
It's certainly never a matter of principle and firmly-held poltical beliefs. After all, we're merely The People. We must never be the first voice and only speak after someone else, preferably wealthy and approved by the corporate media, has led the way. Whenever the emperor parades by in his newest finery, we must never comment on his apparent addiction to Viagra. The fashion industry, after all, depends on our support.

Impeach!
Remove!
Indict!
Prosecute!
Convict!
Imprison!

Rinse
Repeat

19. Actually, we are only part of "The People".
The country is about evenly split and highly polarized. There are about the same number of committed RWs out there as there are LWs. So many of us here seem to think that "The People" are all lefties, but they aren't.

So your revolution will have to face just as many on the other side as we can muster on our side, and their side tends to be better armed.

A revolution would cure nothing and destroy everything.

I remember in the late 60's there was so much dreamy talk about some "revolution of the people". Never happened. It was just egotistical fantasy by people who had no idea what they were talking about.

21. I'm not interested in a political paradigm of 'win-lose.'
Edited on Wed Dec-28-05 11:12 AM by TahitiNut
The more such a paradigm is promulgated, the closer we get to civil war and anarchy. I hold to a political ideology of 'win-win' - a political order that makes manifest the words "with liberty and justice for all." "All" includes citizens and non-citizens alike; left-wingers and right-wingers alike; Democrats and Republicans alike. As such, I reject the presumptive schism and act in concert with a 'win-win' paradigm. I reject the cynical and make my choices according to Rawls' "veil of ignorance" - and refuse to pick victims.

I do not believe George W. Bush warrants impeachment, removal, indictment, conviction, and imprisonment because he's not a Democrat. I believe he deserves that treatment because he's committed high crimes and misdemeanors. I support his impeachment and imprisonment because it would be GOOD for everyone, not just Democrats. (Abolishment of privilege for the wealthy isn't "bad" for the wealthy -- it's just and fair for everybody, including the wealthy.)

22. The schism is not presumptive - it is real. People did vote Bush.
About half of the American people did, both times. And you think they will join you in an anti-Bush revolution?

14. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
You will not be able to stay home, brother.
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out.
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip,
Skip out for beer during commercials,
Because the revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox
In 4 parts without commercial interruptions.
The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon
blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John
Mitchell, General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat
hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be brought to you by the
Schaefer Award Theatre and will not star Natalie
Woods and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia.
The revolution will not give your mouth sex appeal.
The revolution will not get rid of the nubs.
The revolution will not make you look five pounds
thinner, because the revolution will not be televised, Brother.

There will be no pictures of you and Willie May
pushing that shopping cart down the block on the dead run,
or trying to slide that color television into a stolen ambulance.
NBC will not be able predict the winner at 8:32
or report from 29 districts.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of Whitney Young being
run out of Harlem on a rail with a brand new process.
There will be no slow motion or still life of Roy
Wilkens strolling through Watts in a Red, Black and
Green liberation jumpsuit that he had been saving
For just the proper occasion.

Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Hooterville
Junction will no longer be so damned relevant, and
women will not care if Dick finally gets down with
Jane on Search for Tomorrow because Black people
will be in the street looking for a brighter day.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock
news and no pictures of hairy armed women
liberationists and Jackie Onassis blowing her nose.
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb,
Francis Scott Key, nor sung by Glen Campbell, Tom
Jones, Johnny Cash, Englebert Humperdink, or the Rare Earth.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be right back after a message
bbout a white tornado, white lightning, or white people.
You will not have to worry about a dove in your
bedroom, a tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl.
The revolution will not go better with Coke.
The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.
The revolution will put you in the driver's seat.

The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised,
will not be televised, will not be televised.
The revolution will be no re-run brothers;
The revolution will be live.

- Gil Scott-Heron

Truth be known, this country is too lazy to have a revolution...it'd mess up sales at Wal-Mart and the Bowl games. We live in a society now where we send out for our revolutions.

Happy New Year...

18. Finished.
Edited on Wed Dec-28-05 09:51 AM by The Stranger
Finished with emailing and phone calling and writing the party or Congresspeople and reporters who will not report.

Finished trying to get the corporations and the maladministration to stop destroying the planet in every way possible.

Finished going over and over and over and over and over and over again how the election system is a fraud when it remains a fraud.

Finished listening to the latest outrage, becoming further outraged, and looking back realizing how far off the cliff we have already fallen.

Finished trying to engage and get the sheeple to see what is right before their very fucking eyes.

Finished trying to speak up for protestors and activists and finished trying to find the latest protest to support them.

Finished "kicking and recommending" posts that expose the endless stream of outrages from the maladministration, realizing everyone here is already outraged but also knowing this web site is the only way to find out what is going on.

this country has collectively walked off the cliff in the last five years. It hasn't noticed yet that there's nothing beneath it, so it hasn't fallen just yet. The long plunge to the bottom of the canyon is coming up soon. What will happen afterwards is anyone's guess.

24. Aw, heck, Mo! I've been in full-mode revolt for five years.
Naturally, my revolt has been of the non-violent variety because I am an advocate for non-violence. But, I have invested more of myself raising hell about and passionate opposition of this administration's domestic and foreign policies than I have in ANY endeavor short of Motherhood.

Revolution? I thought we were already doing that.
