By keeping the focus on the Niger story it obscures one fact.... |
|
Where are ANY weapons? Where are the thousands of tons of chemicals and biological agents? Yes the Niger thing is big but by keeping the hammer only on that the dems and the pundits and everyone else are obscuring the fact that the entire CASE seems to appear bogus. The only stand of reality they have is the repetitive statements that saddam was a bad man who did bad things.

1. The only thing they can say |
|
is Saddam was bad, and so we had to get rid of him. Sounds good to the Repugs, but hey, there are lots of bad men out there. Why Sadaam? Did it have anything to do with oil?
These days I want to get out my protest signs and wave them in people's faces, saying, "Hey, we told you about this in the winter!"

2. I was thinking along a similar line.... |
|
The Repubs are on the defensive. They think we are gonna pursue this story after it runs out of steam. Democratic strategists might want to look at a new line of attack...such as the other lies that have been told. Like you say, where are the WMDs? Are our soldiers dying for the lies of George Bush and the Repubs? Then there is the story about the inspectors that Dubya misspoke about yesterday... What would be a good new line of attack? To throw them off balance...

3. YellowcakeGate is just the tip of the iceberg - |
|
I wrote this on Q's thread earlier today:
========================== NONE of the public discussion has even touched most of the insanity.
- As you point out, the doctrine of pre-emption itself remains hidden. - Also, the plundering of the Treasury to pay Bush cronies for "reconstruction" remains unmentioned. - The lie about al-Qaeda/Iraq ties is largely untouched. - The complicity of the media in building uncritical war hype is untouched. - The fact that the US has seized control of Iraq's oil is untouched. - The premeditation established by PNAC is largely untouched. - The joke of "building democracy in Iraq" goes unexamined. - The dozens of "terror alerts" with the useless "color code" goes largely uncommented upon. - Even the non-existent WMD are receiving relatively little attention compared to this one specific SOTU lie.
It's odd that with so much material to swing at, all of a sudden, this ONE very circumscribed aspect of the Iraq fiasco has been seized upon to create a growing scandal. It's no more than the tip of the iceberg.

Uranium/Africa/SOTU is the issue that BushCo happened to open the door on. It's the first of the many juggled lies that theyve dropped & admitted dropping. If youre a patho-liar you cant admit lying about anything cuz your whole house o cards starts a-shakin.

5. But it all comes back to the same thing |
|
We can now say, "What, you mean Clinton can't lie but Bush can?"
But, alas, a lie is a lie, especially when it involves death and destruction.

7. The lack of WMD will never go away |
|
The fact that we have found no proof of Iraq having the kinds of weapons the White House claimed will be a part of history for as long as we live.
I hate to say this, but we should be glad the press is covering at least this one facet of the misleading propaganda and junk intelligence we were all fed. They've woken from their slumber. For that we should all be happy. The press finally woke up!
It ain't much, but it's a start....
These are.... the good old days....
