The Black man does not have a home in America |
|
The Democrats don't want us, they prefer to pander to the Confederate flag waving southerners and the Repukes certainly don't like us....
Where do we go?
Green?

...that's why Gephardt and Kerry and Lieberman and Sharpton all took issue with Dean's statement (which was out of context anyways)
:nopity:
Actually maybe those other four don't respect you after all - maybe they're banking on you not to think this through.

He was writing off the entire Democratic Party because of something that Dean said (that was taken out of context - I've posted it enough times for you to go find it if you're actually interested in really clearing up the matter), when there are at least FOUR other Democrats that made statements against it.
I then stated that I thought maybe those four were being disrespectful of him by playing on this out-of-context statement.

he's looking to start a flame war.
in the past hour he's started about 5 threads that've been locked and a few more that deserve to be for that very reason.

Don't give up on pushing the party. The party can work for you, but you have to convince, persuade, persist.
Don't give up pushing (when you feel it necessary) the detractors on this board either. This has been an incredible night:)

The black man? Like there's only one of "Black man" in America now? Sounds like a Jeb Bush wet dream.
Obviously there's a lot of different opinions in as diverse a group of people as all African-Americans. I'm not sure why you should feel so unwanted. The Democrats are a pretty big tent.
If you don't feel at home with us, I respect your differences. But please move to a non-swing state before voting next year. This country can't stand another four years of Ralph Nader's unpleasant side effect.

it gets a bit disruptive when it's thrown at somebody just for disagreeing (as is often the case), so the admins brought that in..
that aside, I suspect that you are perhaps correct in the accusation above.

26. Wrong! The Black man is the very ESSENCE of this country. |
|
Don't give me any crap about "The Democrats dont want us..." It's pure distortion of Dean's comments and you know it.
Addressing the Black Man's predicament is the very essence of what it is to be an American and to be a Democrat. He is the embodiment of the things this party struggles for. It is his future and his hope that we seek to fullfill. It is his aspirations that we, as a party, seek to enable. If we cannot help the Black Man realize his dream in America, then our Democratic party is nothing.
But we will do it. We will help the Black American realize his dream. And until that day, none of us should rest.
The success story of the black man's struggle in America has yet to be written. But it will surely one day come. It is a very large part of what makes me proud to be a Democrat that I can stand in the shoes of men like Martin Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy and say that all of us are eternally and unalterably committed to making the dream come true.

Would you be supporting Dean and his Confederate flag pickup comment if it was a Swastica he was speaking about?
No!

32. I feel bad about this. That Dean has put the Confederate flag in play and |
|
all these so-called "progressive" people are defending him. It' s exactly like Limbaugh. Dean brought the Confederate flag to a healthcare debate. There was no good reason for it to be there. it's like when Clinton talked about seeing a turtle on top of a fence post, someone put it there on purpose. The ex-Governor brought this comment to the table for a reason.

31. The Black man has a home in the Democratic Party. |
|
Ask Harold Ford Jr., Jesse Jackson Jr., John Conyers, and Rod Paige if they didn't have a home in the Democratic Party.
Members of the armed forces have a spot under the Democratic tent. We fight to give them the health care and housing benefits they deserve for risking their lives ensuring the safety of America's citizens.
Our nation's seniors have a home with the Democrats because we are the party that will fight for legislation to allow them to be able to afford the prescription drugs they need to live a high quality life in their golden years.
The working class have a home in America and the Democratic party is the one who will fight for their right to overtime pay.
Our nation's wealthy citizens have a home with the Democrats as well: we ensure that the economy is healthy, that our national debt is low, and that consumers have enough money to purchase the goods produced by tax-evading corporations.
The unemployed have a place with the Democratic party in that we are the party that creates jobs and extends benefits to those who don't have jobs until they can find one.
Point being EVERYONE has a home in the Democratic Party because we are truly the party of inclusion. Look at any other major party and tell me if you see the same amount of diversity that the Democratic Party has. Could we be more diverse? Certainly! But it is better to work within the system to effect change than to completely abandon it.
Oh yeah, and I'm black.

To think if all minority groups banned together and just left the United States the only people that would be left are the rich, white, straight man to gloat in all his welath and oil.
