Deadly Day In Iraq-Bloodiest Day Since Combat Officially Ended....
Let's put aside our differences and work and discuss how to extricate America from Iraq in a way that protects our interests, the Iraqi people's interests and the interests of the people in the region....

2. But was it the bloodiest? or just bloodiest for Americans?
I seem to recall 17 Iraqis dying when troops fired into a protest crowd in Fallujah or some such. I'd have to dig it up, it was definitely part of post-combat occupation.

8. True and why can't the Dem be the party that does this......
Bring all troops back to this country, and not be a country of endless wars. Could anyone run on that? Are we such war lovers that it is never going to stop? Look what we could do in this country and others if we just had the army here and not in what 50 or is 150 countries.I am almost 70 qnd we have always been at war, since 1941. I am not even counting other countries who were at war when I was born. How many people has the USA killed in this endless war business or is that it? A good business.Greed wins?

And if you think the Bushies get out of anything without everyone else getting cheating and feeling abused, you haven't been paying attention.

4. I hate to say it
But if you mean we should put aside our differences with the Republicans, I have to disagree.

Perhaps you meant "our" as in the people in this "community", DU. Or maybe Democrats in general.
In that case, I agree.

Now, as promised, here is my point:
The only way to get us out of Iraq in a way that protects both our interests and those of the people of Iraq would be to get rid of Smirk.

We need our allies to come in and help us correct the sins of this misadministration. The only way to do that is to have new leadership that can convince our allies that we have a genuine interest in making right of a situation that has gone so horribly wrong.

We will never accomplish this goal with anyone in Bush's administration. They are too arrogant. Its bad enough that he pissed off every single one of our allies in his first few months in office, but he also managed to squander the world's goodwill after 9/11.

We will not see any real progress as long as Bush is in control (by "Bush", of course, I mean Cheney and Rove, but I think that is assumed).

5. I Really Didn't Mean The Republicans....
I am willing to make common cause with all people of good faith in a worthy goal but I doubt the Republicans would join us in this effort.

I do believe in the days ahead even some Republicans will see the light....

9. Wouldn't this be...........
the deadliest day, period? I can't recall 15 soldiers dying in one day. The thirteen in the Helicoptor, two in a roadside attack, and I think there was another earlier in the evening. That makes 16 by my count. This must mean that we're making exceptional progress using Bush's logic.
