Latest ABC/Wash Post poll - Dean leading, Kerry 5th
Edited on Sun Nov-02-03 10:37 AM by AWD
Polls taken 4 days ago show Dean leading if primaries were held today.

(ASKED OF LEANED DEMOCRATS) If the 2004 Democratic presidential primary or caucus in your state were being held today, and the candidates were: (Joseph Lieberman, Richard Gephardt, John Kerry, John Edwards, Al Sharpton, Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich, Carol Moseley Braun, or Wesley Clark), for whom would you vote?

------------Lieb.-Gep.-Ker.-Ed.-Dean-Clark-Shar.-Braun-Kuc.-Oth.
10/29/03 All-13---13-----8---5---16---12-----7-----5----2----1
---------RV--13---14-----8---5---17---14-----7-----3----2----*

In April 2003, Lieberman led with 29%, Gephardt had 19%, Kerry had 14%, Edwards 4%, Dean 3%.

This pretty much shows what "People-Powered" is all about.

1. Umm...makes NO SENSE....
when you read this other thread:

I have a feeling that these "polls" are made to confuse people.

4. This IS important!
The point of this is that WE NEED TO BE RID of Bush - to save the lives of those that fight this illegal war AND any new illegal wars Bush will start if he were to win next year.

9. "Huh?" Is Leading Them All
Except maybe in Iowa and New Hampshire, where there's a campaign going on.

Voters aren't paying attention yet (and won't for a while).

10. Sorry but Dean is not "leading"
Lieb, gep, dean, and clark are all within
statistical margin of error.

Overall, I think Dean and Clark have momentum
accd to this poll whereas the others do not.

However, all the poll really indicates is that
we haven't decided who we want. It is anyone's game.

I still think Dean is the front-runner by far, but
you have to put a lot of things together on this.

Dean is my #2 choice right, basically because he
is interesting.

I think Clark is still the only one who can beat Bush
because of the Southern States issue. It's not "who
can get the most votes", it's who can win the swing
states (decided by swing voters) and the Southern
States. That's electoral reality.

Kerry could garner some support because of his military
cred but I just don't see the South going for him. Maybe
people in Mass love him, but how are you going to get
Southerners to vote for him?

Clark can actually call Bush AWOL and make it stick because
there is a clear point of difference between the two on this.
Clark has been the victim of a lot of bad media reporting
the last 6 weeks but I think he is emerging from that.

The fact that he is doing so well without airing one add should
give a lot of the other candidates pause.

Keep an eye out for Clark, he has just begun to hit his
stride. He is also raising money, maybe not as much as Dean
but I expect we will raise 7 to 10,000,000 this quarter,
maybe more than 10,000,000 if Clark and the gang run it
correctly.

However, it all comes down to the media and which campaign
learns how to control it the best. I think Clark has been
a victim of the Shelton smear as well as a bunch of other
baloney. That stuff seems to be ringing hollow lately and the
Clark team is developing an effective rapid response team.

Dean needs to be careful about what he says, this nomination
is his to lose in my opinion.

13. That wasn't AWD's point - it was to show how silly these threads are
All the frontrunners are gaining on Bush, but the race hasn't kicked in yet.
