It's official: I am now vindicated
Well I only woke up a little while ago and of course am just hearing about today's bloodbath. In fact, it seems all too common now that I hear about yet another soldier being killed every day when I wake up in the morning.

In March, I warned about the consequences of a war with Iraq, and it now appears that I have been proven almost 100% correct. The only place where I was wrong was in the one concession I made to the Bush Admninistration: I thought weapons would be found. Everything I have projected would happen has happened. Casulties are mounting among both civilians and US soldiers; Al Qaeda terrorists have now moved into Iraq, where they did not operate before the war; the world has little or no sympathy for the US; we have no exit strategy or clear definition of what victory means. I hereby proclaim myself RIGHT, and I hereby say I TOLD YOU SO to all supporters of this war.

My next prediction is for the military draft to be reinstituted in 2005 if former Governor Bush is elected next year. I of course will glady lend my services to any honest conscientious objector who needs a hiding place from the draft.

4. Iraq's a lot more attractive target than America for Al Qaeda
You can kill thousands of people in Iraq, American soldiers and secular Iraqis alike, and no one cares...all the while damaging America's reputation at home and abroad.

They're murderers, but they're not stupid. They know how to jump on an opportunity when Bush gives them one.

2. Here's a prediction:
US corporations will suck as much money as possible out of the national treasury, ballooning the deficit as much as possible to put pressure on to reduce social programs ($87bn is only the beginning), and US corporations will buy Iraq corporations at rock-bottom prices, and a puppet government will be established in Iraq. All of this will be accomplished by next summer. Bush will then declare victory and some of the soldiers will return home to victory parades, confetti, hero worship, etc. Many troops will stay in Iraq to protect the puppet government from overthrow, of course, but it will not be on the mainstream news so Americans will not know about it (or care). Bush will be re-selected as a conquering hero.

7. Ding...ding...ding!
Unfortunately, you win! Might I add, and I believe you are thinking about this too, that while the death toll will continue to mount, the news media will fail us once again, by never saying another word. Not a mumblin' word. We will look back on this current filtered garbage as good times.

News media? Corporate shills? Toadies of the first order? I mean WTF are we suppose to call these guys and dolls of 24/7 propaganda orgy? They have more blood on their hands than Rummy who is certifiably insane.

8. Yes, good points.
What is most sad is the number of Democrats who don't see the true nature of this adventure and continue to support pouring more money into Bush's friend's corporations and continuing the destruction in order to "help" Iraq build a nation, and usually all of this out of a misguided and sick sense of "patriotism." For christsakes already, when the Nazis were put on trial and said they were just following orders it was the UNITED STATES who said that excuse would not wash! How can we now say that it is okay for US troops to invade a foreign country, overthrow their government, occupy their country, commit atrocities daily with no laws or justice, and that it is unpatriotic for anyone to mention how wrong this is?

10. Brainwashing is the answer
The question: How can we now say that it is okay for US troops to invade a foreign country, overthrow their government, occupy their country, commit atrocities daily with no laws or justice, and that it is unpatriotic for anyone to mention how wrong this is?

Have you noticed how the polls make no sense? Questions like; do you thing the US is on the right course in Iraq? No=58% Yes=32% How do think bushco is handling the war? Good=61%

I making the exact numbers up, but I did go over the WaPo poll numbers very carefully last night. Guess what? It makes no sense unless you factor in spin-o-whores.

but the creation of this whole mess is not my, or our, responsibility. I will lend my services to those who are unfairly drafted in Mr. Bush's war.

9. & I've always been one to rub it in
But right now it just feels hollow, empty. Yea, most of us were dead on (or close). Of course it didn't take any feat of genius to see what was coming after *'s selection.

5. You're hardly alone in having made such predictions
Edited on Sun Nov-02-03 02:42 PM by pmbryant
And this is hardly a tactful moment to be saying "I TOLD YOU SO". :-(

Also, I find the possibility that the draft will be reinstated to be politically insignificant. So if this new prediction of yours does come true, I will give you kudos. But I don't think this is a realistic fear.
