typical republican mistake |
|
Why do republicans always give so much press to stuff they hate? First Al Franken's book, which becomes a best seller, and now the Reagan minseries. I guarantee you the ratings are going to go through the roof, because now everyone wants to see it.

I wouldn't have even considered watching it before they started all this nutsy ness. Now I wouldn't miss it. I would have probably bought Franken's and Michael Moore's books anyway but all the flap made me run to get them.:kick:

8. I didn't even KNOW about the Reagan miniseries |
|
until those fine people in the Republican party starting crying about it. Had I found out about it on my own I don't even think I would have been inclined to watch it. However, with all the hoopla they have created, I now feel that it is my responsibility as a patriotic American to not only watch it but spend my next paycheck solely on products made by the show's sponsors.
In a strictly free-market sense, however, I think I'd be doing Reagan proud.

9. Right wingers fumed about PBS' Vietnam: "The Ten Thousand Day War" |
|
They forced PBS to produce a prowar 13th episode narrated by Moses himself (Char Heston). That was CBS and Congress controlled the purse strings. The minority GOOPs howled enough to make it clear to PBS that they must edit it.
BTW, the original series was the one narrated by Richard Basehardt (sp?). It is shown occasionally on cable tv. I recall the segments are 30 minutes, not 60, so I expect they are heavily edited--for editorial reasons, not just time.
I don't expect CBS will have to bow to the sons of Newt Gingerich. CBS owns Congress, Congress does not own CBS
