Soldiers in Iraq provide proof that Bush is a liar
Still think we’re “making progress” in Iraq? The irrefutable proof that just the opposite is happening is in bold.

"Within an hour of the crash, American helicopters, Humvees and armored vehicles had swarmed the field where the Chinook crashed, witnesses said. As helicopters evacuated the dead and wounded, soldiers guarded the site, training their weapons on anyone who approached.

Through the afternoon, American attack helicopters flew low over nearby fields, and journalists who approached the site were turned away...

Meanwhile, United States troops battled guerrillas and residents of Abu Ghraib, a suburb of Baghdad, for the second time in three days. Helicopters and tanks patrolled the town, and soldiers fired on a photographer trying to cover the fighting...

Residents of Abu Ghraib said that at least one American soldier had been killed and many Iraqis wounded, in the clash. The fight began when guerrillas threw a grenade at an American Humvee, wounding several soldiers and killing at least one, they said. The military said it could not comment on the incident…

At least four Iraqis were killed, and dozens more wounded, in the clash on Friday, several residents of Abu Ghraib said. They said tanks had deliberately run over cars and set fire to several stores. Their reports could not be independently confirmed, because American soldiers in armored vehicles barred reporters from viewing the scene. "

Guess they're making too much progress for the 'mercun people to see.

1. I wonder...

Why aren't we seeing more stories about censorship and coverups in the Occupation?

It seems every story I read has something about the military not commenting or turning reporters away or shooting at a member of the press.

I mean, I know they're whores, but you'd think GETTING SHOT AT would piss them off. I guess they're cowards, to boot.

2. updated info
The grenade incident was never confirmed, but the chinook & the road-side bombs were. It is sad that the death toll is almost 400, but they won't admit it and hope we don't read ourselves to find out. They have already barred reporters from filming the coffins coming back. Isn't that censorship. As for the guerrilla war, Rumsfeld was not comforting when he said it may be a trend of ever-increasing attacks on us! What the hell are we doing there. They weren't about to attack us and we aren't even that close to getting the situation under-control. It probably will be harder from this point on then the adminstration said it would be for the whole war when the were lying to us 6 months ago. Why do half of Americans not see it. Are they blind because they drive SUVs and the gas prices were too high or the heating oil was costing them too much. I bet it makes a real difference if you have a small business that is dependant on the price of oil.

3. What put me over the edge
today was when Rumsfeld said something to the effect of (this is a paraphrase) "Well, they're killing Iraqis, too." And to paraphrase Bremer, "Well, we're all getting our blood mixed together here. Iraqis are getting killed right along side us."

Does this make it OK? It seems with all the assasinations - political and religious, the suicide attacks on Iraqis and Americans, NGOs, and any other opportune target. the firefighting in the streets, that the country of Iraq is on the verge of occupied civil war and absolute chaos. And this is OK because we're painting schools and paving roads and we're all dying together? What are these people thinking?

My God! We've started a forest fire and NOBODY is trying to put it out because EVERYBODY'S getting burned.

Kimber Scott
