my grandmother predicts it'll all come down to Dean & Clark in Florida
Edited on Sun Nov-02-03 11:13 PM by pruner
she lives in the West Palm Beach area and is quite active in the old-folks community in which she resides.

I was talking to her earlier tonight and she said the only candidates people around there are talking about are Dean & Clark.

she also said many of the people she speaks with are of the opinion that Kerry is a phony due to his waffling over Iraq (she didn't call it waffling… she referred to it is a politically motivated change of opinion).

well… that's just my grandma's 2 cents.

1. Kerry
Kerry is doing very well in Broward and Dade, maybe not so much with the condo crowd, but he actually has a lot of young professionals and grad students out in full force. And his fundraising in FL is in the top two or three. Not exactly saying he's going to win the primary, but don't count him out. Anytime there's no favorite son, it's a toss-up. Besides, North Florida Democrats are DINOs and will prefer a Southerner, whereas the SoFla Dems will want a more liberal candidate perhaps from the Northeast. It should be a fun one to watch! Without Bob Graham in the race anymore, this Floridian remains undecided for now. :)

March 9, 2004 will be here before ya know it...

3. not sure
he's announcing plans, whether they're reelection plans or retirement plans, that is unknown. I am extremely anxious to find out what the deal is, and I don't even know what time to watch for it, I heard noon but who knows, and I won't even be near a TV at noon so it doesn't do me any good...everyday I'm leaning differently, maybe he'll run maybe he won't, it's so up-in-the-air

8. Graham to Seek Reelection, Insiders Say
This from www.politics1.com:

GRAHAM TO SEEK RE-ELECTION, SAY INSIDERS. Sources close to US Senator Bob Graham (D-FL) -- who last month ended his Presidential bid -- told Politics1 that Graham plans to announce Monday that he is seeking re-election next year. Graham has flirted with retiring from the Senate in the month since quitting the White House race. Democratic leaders in Florida and in the Senate have pleaded with Graham to seek re-election, arguing that he is the party's best hope for holding control of the seat. Polls currently show that Graham would easily defeat any of the Republicans currently in the race. According to the sources, Graham has also assembled the core of a new campaign team for the race. Graham, 67, previously served as Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee when the Dems held control. The four Democrats currently running for Graham's seat -- Congressmen Peter Deutsch and Alcee Hastings, Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas and former university president Betty Castor -- all say they will exit the race if Graham runs. At least three of them reportedly polled to see if they could defeat Graham head-to-head in a primary but found that -- even if they could defeat Graham -- they would likely to be too wounded by the bloody contest to win the subsequent general election.

12. I've noticed..............
overwhelming support in the Hispanic community for Dean. We're a small county in cenral Florida, but without exception, they're most interested in Dean. For what it's worth.
