Bush* reminds me of Commodus from Gladiator
Edited on Sun Nov-02-03 11:50 PM by Bleachers7
He is the idiot son of a jackass. Commudus killed his father, then pranced around like the king. Bush Jr. got selected and pranced around like GEORGE FUCKING WASHINGTON. He is an embarrassment to all our great soldiers from the revolutionary war to today. The more I think of it, the more pissed I get. I mean he kept an aircraft carrier out an extra day off the coast of San Diego. How is this possible? How is this legal? I was just reading about Clark being angry on the inside talking about it (the flight suit). Imagine what a guy like Clark thinks. He got shot four times and had to learn how to walk again. He served 35 years because of the call of JFK and because he loved the military. Now you have this AWOL asswipe prancing around like the fucking king. We need to end this. I hope you are all committed to working your ass off the next year. That's what it is going to take.

Note: Sorry about the language. I am just that pissed.

1. Idiot son, yes. But George H.W. is NOT a decent man
Time for some serious education here. I just finished reading this article, linked from another DU forum. http://www.newtopiamagazine.net/issues/v2issue3/features/bushempire.shtml

Read it and weep.

You know... incompetent, disinterested, with his sole qualification being that he emerged from a highly priviledged womb.

7. Commodus pranced around in the Colloseum
about 700 times and scandalized the world. <Set up wins, all his fights>

Samual Bush: Armed the Kaiser, WWI
Prescott Bush: Armed Hitler, WWII
George HW Bush: Dumped his plane mates, warmonger, Dictator monger
George Bush: AWOL, Warmonger WWIII

6. Unfortunately....
Only half the senate is laughing at him right now.

The other half somehow believes he is Jesus returned.

8. Commodus fancied himself a 'demi-god'
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 12:16 AM by japanduh
From this :

"By al accounts Commodus was a handsome man, with curly blonde hair. But he appeared to possess a weak character, easily influenced by others. But so too was he prone to cruelty and excessive behaviour. To an extent his behaviour was still held in check, when his father was still alive, although then too some believed to detect the signs of a new Nero in the young heir. "

"If Commodus merely had not lived up to the gruelingly high standards of his father, the world would have most likely forgiven him. But rather than just failing to be a brilliant emperor, Commodus was in fact a terrible one. Cruelty, vanity, power and fear of Commodus formed into a terrifyingly dangerous mix of bloodlust, suspicion and megalomania. Commodus should be remembered as a monster, a tyrant renamed months in his own honour, and who slaughtered his way through the circuses in ludicrous displays of 'manliness'."

"He liked to appear in the arena dressed up in a lion skin as the ancient hero Hercules, son of Jupiter. There is little doubt that by this time Commodus was deranged. Senators had to be present at such performances, as their emperor slaughtered helpless animals or hapless gladiators. "

"Whilst the emperor was playing gladiator in Rome, the empire itself was facing hard times. The army was viewed with suspicion by a population which knew more and more spies and military secret police at work.
Had the emperor nearly bankrupted the imperial treasury with his expensive lifestyle, then he simply replenished it by accusing senators of treason and having their property seized."

"Commodus was to take office as consul on 1 January AD 193. He even intended to march to the senate from a gladiatorial school within the city - dressed as a gladiator."

Sound familiar to anyone?

10. Not bad analogy, except that Commodus had courage and drive
W is afraid of his own shadow, and would never put himself in danger, even to gain something.

Several friends of mine were cops here in Austin, and knew DPS people who worked security for W as governor. They used to joke about how chicken he was. His predecessor, Ann Richards, would wade out into a crowd and start shaking hands without a moment's thought, even when they told her not to. W would not move one inch from where they told him to stand. He would stand behind them if possible.

His actions on 9-11 did not surprise me. He was truly fleeing in fear for his life. I swear I thought that 9-11 and his flight were the end of him. I don't know how they made him look like the hero. All I could think when I saw that second plane hit was "This is what Gore and Clinton warned you about, and you ignored it, you chicken... " well, you can guess what words I put in place of the elipses.

Commodus in the movie was a sick puppy, but he made everything happen for himself. Not Bush. Others did it for him.
