A comparison of national priorities
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uselections2004/story/0,13918,1076608,00.html

In America, starving poor are regarded not even regarded as a problem to be swept under the rug and ignored. They are simply irrelevant.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/3235553.stm

Half a world away in India, the Indian government is prepared to spend $2.5 billion dollars to ensure that villagers aren't left behind by the Internet revolution.

What does this say about the levels of humanity in America and India that mass hunger is a non-issue in the former while a mere lack of connectivity is worthy of a national response in the latter? I'll tell you what it says: it's nothing America and Americans should be proud of.

1. Internet Connectivity?
India should be spending their money on food for the starving poor, not the internet.

2. Agreed.
India has a lot of problems more pressing than Internet connections.

3. Ironically, it is what so many Americans say they believe..

The notion of teaching a man to fish.

Internet connectivity means learn new skill, get job, buy food.
