Iraq as a reflecetion of developments in Afghanistan

I think, said Andrey Grozin, the East studies researcher, to our correspondent in an interview, developments in Iraq may take the same turn as the events took in Afghanistan following the overthrow of the Taliban regime and setting up the interim government and then Hamid Karzai’s provisional government.

Only point I want to make is that he is talking about the current situation. However, everybody forgets the modern history of Afghanistan. Soviets entering the country, puppet government, uprising, everybody knows what happened and how it all ended.

Just a small side note-the ultimate defeat of the Soviet Army was largely attributed to the shipment of Stingers to the rebels which enabled them to bring down air support for the Soviet Troops.
