Zell Miller On The Candidates/Demos
Edited on Tue Nov-04-03 01:05 AM by khephra
http://www.opinionjournal.com/la/?id=110004254

In a "National Party No More," Mr. Miller sets out to take his party to the woodshed with colorful and caustic attacks on fellow Democrats for steering the party too far to the left and in the process abandoning conservative Democrats in the South. His harshest criticism is of the current field of Democratic presidential candidates, whom he compares to "streetwalkers in skimpy halters and hot pants plying their age-old trade for the fat wallets on 'K' Street." He doesn't like any of them but detests Howard Dean the most. "Clever and glib, but deep this Vermont pond is not," Mr. Miller writes.

I'm really interested in seeing the response this piece will bring out.

(edited: cut out stuff that turned this into more of a pro-Dean thread than it needed to be. My mistake! Lets all rally behind our contempt of Miller instead.)

1. Why must I change my opinion of Dean
because Miller dislikes him almost as much as I do? It's a non-issue to me, although I do think Miller was far too kind to Dean.

30. I also think if there is one Southern State Dean should
pull out all stops in in the general election it should be Georgia. It has always been a tossup state in the South, and nothing would please me more than to humiliate Zell.

all DUer's together--and that's our dislike of Miller at this point.

7. If Zell Miller hates Howard Dean...
Perhaps that means we should all love him.

Honestly, Zell has no place in our party and I think the best way to handle him and his disgusting remarks is just to ignore him. He's a disenchanted, bitter, and malicious individual.

I really think Zell needs psychological help. He claims to be a southern Democrat, yet he voted to take away overtime pay for working Americans. He is a disgrace and a hypocrite.

certain regions of the US. But then I wouldn't be able to see my
friends and relatives. :) I am sick of pandering to regions with
code speak and other crap. Either be a dem or drop dead. You have
a choice, Zell. Either be a dem with the rest of us or go hold
Bush's purse. Don't claim some sort of regional pass because we
all aren't 'conservative' enough for you. There are jar heads here
in Alaska as well as everywhere else. They can take a hike. No
more pandering to regions.

Part of the joy of our group of candidates is that there are
men and women from all regions. That defines dem for me among
other things, the ability to draw from the south, north, east
and west and get things done. Go all dems! Bite me, Zell.

18. Zell can go to hell
He says that the national Democratic Party has told the South to go to hell, but the same could be said with regard to the Republican Party's attitude toward blacks for 40 years. If anything, it has been the Democrats, not the Republicans who have tried to be all things to all constituencies over the last 50 years. Republicans are far more comfortable writing off whole segments of the electorate than are the Democrats. In any event, the Democrats allowed the South to all but control the national party until the 1930's. Our last 3 Democratic presidents were southerners, which liberals went along with in the interest of appeasing the South. What more does the party have to do? Not everyone in the South is a white Christian fundamentalist, racist, homophobic sexist with a Confederate flag on their pickup. In fact, very few people are. I would suggest that we write off these voters, who will never share Democratic values, but not write off the South.

21. Maybe Anne Coulter had Zell
in mind when she wrote her last two books, the titles sure fit Traitor and Slander).
When will a true democrat take this uber goober to task and call him out, or better yet throw him out of office. He didn't stop his spew at our 9 esteemed candidates either (well, make that 8), when asked by Hannity what he thought of Hillary, he slammed her too.
mr. miller (he doesn't deserve the respect of capitalization or the distinguished address of senator) is a DINO and a dinosaur. Until his kind is ferretted out, we can never claim to be the party of the true progressive.

23. Dean is a right-wing zealot compared to Bill Clinton...
And remember...

there was no greater fan of Bill Clinton that Zellbo Millerfreaknik

That's right

Clinton...who wanted an employer mandate on every business, requiring them to pay 80% of the employee's heathcare insurance premium along with established manditory benefits! He also wanted a 5-7% cent tax on cigarettes. Dean's health plan is somewhat more modest than the Hillary-Zell plan!!

Clinton...who pushed the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban. Dean sides with the hunter and the working man who owns a gun!

Clinton...who pasted the largest TAX INCREASE in the history of MANKIND!!! Dean just wants to repeal shrub's "unwise" tax increases for future generations, which are slated to be phased-out over time..anyway.

Clinton...who pushed for the new British Thermal Unit tax dreamed up by Al Gore's people, Zell was rooting fur this all tha way...goooneeewtaxes!!! Funny how Dean hasn't been pushing this...

35. This is a rather crazy post.
Dean's health plan has nothing to do with employment, which means that if you're between jobs you're still covered. Dean also supports the Brady Bill, the Assault Weapons Ban, and also closing the gun show loophole. He doesn't want to get rid of any gun legislation.
