5 Explosions - No information

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/02/24/iraq/main541815.shtml?cmp=EM8707

(CBS/AP) A blast near a holy Shiite Muslim shrine in the city of Karbala on Monday killed three people and injured 12, witnesses said. Meanwhile, in Baghdad, a string of mortar blasts struck near downtown after sunset.

<snip>

In Baghdad, five strong explosions were heard in quick succession at about 9:10 p.m., and it appeared the blasts were coming from the western side of the Tigris River.

Soon after, the U.S military command reported three or four mortar impacts in central Baghdad. It did not report any casualties or give details on damage.

HUH???

1. I am starting to really get these mixed up.
Makes me seem un-feeling but it is not that. I even read about what happens and it goes into my head but it is starting to be like it was in Nam. I would hear deaths every day, knew the planes were coming in the local base, my daughter was a vol in naval hospital and she talked about it. It really worried her. Then I had a son that got hurt and ended up seeing a doctor that saw me and him at the end of the head wound ward and I had to walk through that ward. It was a shock, as the numbers death and hurt really hit me in the face, I then saw them as men 3 years older than my daughter and shot up for life and also many dead I never saw. How can we understand this?This does not count people in Iraq dead. We really need the draft back to pull all people into this and maybe wars would slow down.

4. two possibilities
1) the five explosions were really just noisy nothings, no one got hurt, and nothing important was damaged. Thus, the lack of coverage.

2) the US military has dropped a shroud of secrecy over this story like nothing they've used so far, to my knowledge. Nothing to see here, move along.

5. BBC America reported this morning
that the mortars hit inside the US Green Zone, but there were no injuries. As to the bomb in Karbala, BBC showed pictures of the damage, but no one knew the reason for the attack which was directed at Iraqis.
