5. Where are you located? |

Edited on Tue Nov-04-03 12:02 PM by lebkuchen
What continent?
It's 8:00 p.m. in Baghdad right now, two hours ahead of where I am. The lights will be bright in Baghdad, whatever it was that exploded. Guess the Iraqis are taking a lesson from Bush's advanceman..."location and lighting are everything."

8. Jane Arat/CNN says it was a mortar or rocket fired into Saddam Palace |
|
where Coalition Forces are staying. She says it's a huge complex with many gardens and that they don't usually here get verification from Coalition forces OR THE PRESS on what happens with these attacks. She says it comes from on the ground Iraqi's and the Iraq police to piece the stories together. (Interesting isn't it, that she said that on CNN).
CNN also showed a tape of an interview of an Iraqi Rep who was standing outside when the 4-5 explosions took place. So the tape recorded the explosions. Almost as if Wolf was "deflecting" skeptics by showing the tape as evidence that the explosions took place. They haven't had any "verification" by officials.

to release.
The trial this weekend went pretty well, it was reported as notable, but all the nets stayed within guidelines and kept the focus on Lacy.
edit to note that the CNN commentary seems to be hinting at an upcoming mass slaughter of civilians.

10. help me find a story... might be important.... |
|
back in late may or june - there was a story linked either in GD or in LBN from a middle-eastern news source (don't recall which). It spurred a short bout of discussion then disappeared from our psyche.
The whole gist of the story was that prior ot the invasion, Saddam had pulled together loyalists - not at the top of the chain (as they would be targeted by US) - but further down - and placed them strategically throughout the country. They would work to gather support and then start a coordinated offensive, after the US thought they had won. In the story refered to a holiday (presumably when guards would be down - and for symbolic impact) as the commencement of an offensive. Due to the timing of the story it was speculated to be targeted for the 4th of July. It never happened. The story never came back.
What if it was real - but the 'holiday' wasn't the US fourth of July, but Ramadan.
I can not remember enough specifics of the story to find it through google - and I have never figured out how to do a search in the DU1 archives (Where the story likely is).
Does ANYONE besides me remember this story?

12. These Mortars Are Hitting the HEART of the American Presence |
|
Correct? They are landing in the compound that is HQ for the American forces, right? This should be the place with the best, tightest security and defenses in the whole country, correct? Am I right about this?
There is not a single safe spot in the entire country. They can hit us anywhere.

13. I wish sometimes I did not have such a good memory. Vietnam Clone War! |

People can say this is not Vietnam if they want. And on some points they would be correct. But reading your post reminded me of something I had heard during Vietnam. They can hit us anywhere is absolutely dead on. Peace Wildman Al Gore is My President
