Bill Clinton is the only person to ever become president without winning New Hampshire. That
means right now things look pretty good for Dean.
Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton became the first person to win the presidency without first winning
the New Hampshire primary. Clinton’s campaign ran into trouble when allegations of his frequent
and long-term marital infidelity surfaced.
He did not win New Hampshire in 1992, but he did get 2nd. Clinton finished a strong second
despite the negative media focus. He proclaimed himself the "Comeback Kid," and got a bounce
from the New Hampshire primary, after all.
http://www.nhprimary.com/pastelections/1992.html 1996: Bill Clinton ran virtually unopposed in the Democratic primary this year, although twenty
hopefuls officially filed to contest his candidacy. Clinton swept all of them, as well as twenty-two
Republican write-in candidates, with 83% of the vote.
http://www.nhprimary.com/pastelections/1996.html Dean has a 10 point lead over Kerry in New Hampshire, and a 24 point lead over Clark.
