Boycott CBS...
With its recent decision to drop the Reagan mini-series, CBS has shown its rank disregard for this country and the ideals that we hold dear! By giving in to the Radical Right, they have subverted the system with censorship!!!

It can't be over ratings! So many people were getting hyped over this that half the country was going to tune in! So it's all about appeasing their advertisers and masters...cause CBS has never done this before, right?! Someone would make a movie if the network had suppressed a story right?!

The premise of the movie Network has arrived! All reality TV programs...corporate driven profit margins....and the nation gets screwed.....

Contact the company and tell them you are not going to watch another CBS program or any of its affiliate stations and will contact advertisers as a result of this horrendous decision! Out and out censorship is the last nail in the coffin of Democracy....this was just a test! How do you think the repugs are going to behave in the general election......I didn't mind as much on the cable shows cause so few watch them, but the networks are watched by much of the public....this sends a horrendous signal to all the rabid right wingers out there...it emboldens them, and believe me they should get slapped down!!!

Fight back damn it!!!!!

1. You know, it's obvious that scare and terror tactics are only what CBS
knows.

2. I think
we should make a point of purchasing something from the reagan sponsors and sending them proof of purchase with a letter thanking them for supporting freedom of speech

4. I think it is silly to boycott CBS for not showing the movie.
None of the other networks showed the movie either. Should we boycott them as well?

Boycotts are for business that either do things that they should not or fail to do things that they have a responsibility to do. I don't think CBS as a responsibility to show that movie.

8. Perfectly stated. They are, quite simply, crybabies...
... and are appearing as such to more and more people every day through actions like this.

And this is not a case where we would just be "rolling over" and not "fighting fire with fire" (which is, sadly, often the case). Here, we simply have a network choosing NOT to show something because of criticism from a group. That is there perogative, and if they cave to conservative pressure, they may be cowardly, but they shouldn't be the subject of some boycott campaign. Save that for the outlets that actively spew lies and hate on a regular basis (Rush, Fox News...). What's next, boycotting all major networks because they aren't showing Michael Moore films in Prime Time? Choose your battles.

14. I think the whole thing is silly
Who the hell lends any creedence to a network miniseries? Especially here, where the "lies of the corporate media" are harped on constantly.

10. What does freedom of speech have to with it?
They probably had people calling for boycotts if they DID show...other now will threaten for not doing it. Their concern is market share...nothing more.

15. It's not a freedom of speech issue.
The first amendment merely protect you from being prosecuted for something that you say. As far as I know, no one was going to presecute CBS for showing the mini-series.

13. CBS made two mistakes
The first was thinking that any profile of Reagan that falls short of calling him the greatest President of all time would fly with the right. Of courser it would piss them off. Their second mistake is showing no backbone. They should have just shown it and let the people decide. The right doesn't think CBS made the right call, the Right just wanted to watch CBS cave under pressure. They got their win, and they are not coming back. Now the left will give CBS a hard time too.
