Signing a petition at a store... end up registering as a Repuke? |
|
A friend of mine said she got a call from the L.A. registrar's office asking her if she had registered as a Republican. She hadn't done so and somehow it came up that she had indeed signed a petition at a grocery store to get seat belts in school buses.
Has anyone heard of people unknowingly signing something to register as a repuke when they think they're signing a petition?
Can this even be possible? The whole thing sounds kind of weird but it wouldn't surprise me to hear this is happening.
Wouldn't she not be able to vote in the primary if she had indeed been re-registered without her really knowing?

1. I heard something similar |
|
during the recall, someone on another message board said she was approached with a petition, and the person told her it was about something education-related, and it was a Recall petition. Luckily, she noticed before she signed. Whether or not that's an accurate story, I do not know.

2. which makes Darryl Issa-hole's recall drive all the more suspect |
|
these people were collecting names FOR MONEY. They could say damn near anything, put damn near anything on this petition, to get a signature...
and yes, I bet it would screw her primary vote, since it would take time to get it figured out and fixed. Meanwhile, the primary comes and goes
good thing she found out!!!

3. really doesn't matter in Texas |

You don't have to be registered as one or the other to vote in the Primary. And your registration status doesn't keep you from voting in a primary. It only keeps you from voting in both.

6. I'm not sure... this whole thing is kinda strange. |
|
at the time she took the call she didn't really think to ask certain questions. (She was more pissed that they thought she'd register as a Republican :-) Then the more she thought about it the more she realized they think something suspicious going on.. I wish I had more info but don't.
