the blacks in the audience do not seem amused. I didn't see any of them applauding him. Why doesn't Dean just apologize, i.e. "I apologize if I offended any people of color," or "That was a poor choice of words on my part, here's what I meant."? I personally understand what he meant and I don't think he is a racist at all. It just seems to me like it was a really stupid thing to say. He could have gotten the same point across without being so inflammatory. There are obviously some blacks who were deeply offended by the remark. If he would just apologize I think it would blow over. Just my .02
