Republican blitz backfired for Sorensen
Official Rat Worm and former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani helped Eileen Gunther secure her first political win! The GOP pulled out the big Pataki / Giuliani guns (no Bush, but that would have been a great disaster!) and are left to foot the bill.
Congratulations to Pat O'Dywer (campaign manager) and Eileen Gunther for resisting the urge to fight fire with fire (by calling in Bill Clinton or Chuck Schumer). Well met ladies!

Monticello – Back and forth went the voter. Sorensen or Gunther. Gunther or Sorensen.
"Aileen Gunther's great," she thought. Especially on people issues like health care and education. Plus, she deserves to carry on her late husband Jake's legacy from the 98th Assembly District.
But Alan Sorensen's a real smart guy, the voter thought. His programs to promote main streets and stop sprawl make so much sense.
Back and forth the Sullivan County voter went – until last week, that is. That's when Gov. George Pataki showed up to endorse Sorensen. That's when former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's ads for him turned up in unsolicited phone calls.
That's when the voter switched to Gunther.
