Zell Miller Explains Why He's a Democrat
He managed to squeeze a few words off before I could get to the remote control, in those words he explained that while he would be more comfortable somewhere else he stays with the Democrats because thats where he has always been. So he basically admits that he is a Republican. Why dont the democrats remove hiw special status and make the choice for him, if he is too reluctant to change himself.

19. Grow up honey
your routine grows tiresome. And after your claim that Clark was "sent to us" or some such nonsense you sound like one of Chimpy's followers....not that I don't have my suspicions about Clark being a "chosen one" of sorts but not by some divinity. ;-)

Whine, whine whine. No wonder the Rs are able to convince people Dems are whiners. Many of us are. I urge you to stop. You convince no one of anything other than the obvious, you have nothing to constructive or sensible to contribute to the conversation.

Julie--who marvels at the nastiness here sometimes

2. Goodbye, Zell
Normally, it's better to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Zell is clearly an enemy. Not this time. Look for him, even at his age, to be a seven figure lobbyist on K Street when he steps down. Halliburton, here he comes!

Zell Miller is BushCoPNAC mole in the Democratic Senate Caucus.

6. Just watched him on CNN's "Inside Politics."
At the end of the Judy suck-up interview, great patriotic loyalist Zell Miller took a few swipes at Clinton, and then said that "the world was changed on 9/11. And I want a president now that's got a little grit in his craw. I want a president that's got some Churchill in him. And I like the fact that George Bush can look out and tell the American people talking about Iraq and saying 'we're not leaving,' and the American people know it. And that's what we like in the South."

Ummm, a little grit in his craw...? WTF is that supposed to mean? And does he honestly believe he sees Bush as a president that's got a little Churchill in him? Is he actually being serious here? Because, if he's having these kinds of powerful, delusional visuals, I'd like to have some of what he's smoking, that's for sure.

It was very, very difficult for me to stomach this interview. Did anyone else see it?

13. You know, Zell
Bill Clinton did relatively well in the South in '92 and '96. BTW, can anyone explain why Miller turned to the right? He never used to be this way. He was no liberal, but he was no conservative.

25. Well if he is talking about Churchill's Brandy Cabinet then I suppose
Bu$h* does have more than a little of that in him at any given time.
Churchill really got liquored up on brandy but never so bad he couldn't eat his freakin pretzel.

23. I would like him to become a Republican
He won't get re-elected anyway you look at it but when he lines up at the hog trough with the rest of the Republicans I want it known that it is a Republican lining up there and not a Democrat. Georgia is a retarded state and has been for quite some time. There are a few good people there although I don't understand why, but the majority are what we used to refer to as Grits.

9. He's basically saying that it's from stodginess and habit
The Democratic Party should throw him out. I'm serious about this: HE is the problem; he doesn't want to accept that the hard-shelled conservatives have no place in this party.

He is ridiculous, and his puffed-up propriety is the sickening posturing of the mediocre. Throw him out. Throw him out of the party and make a big deal out of it.

10. I think he'd love that
He's daring us to give him what he so obviously desires, one last example of Democratic "intolerance" to justify his switch to the GOP. Let him stew in the party he hates. If he's going to be a turncoat, let him do it under his own volition, without excuses, without blame going to anyone but himself.

18. I think Zell can be won over.
I don't think he's all bad--just 70% bad. He is not nearly so bad as your average southern GOP senator. He's much worse, on the other hand, than Sen. Breaux, who I think is a bit right of center. Zell has little connection with the heart of today's Democratic Party in Georgia or nationally, but I think, as a relative "independent," even he can see that the Bush administration policies are bad for the nation. He's not seeing it now, but I think that can change. I hope he has some friends around him who will help him in this regard.

20. In other words.. He is an infiltrator
Edited on Thu Nov-06-03 05:15 PM by SoCalDem
but he's not even smart enough to keep his mouth shut.. and apparently the Dems are too dumb to boot his ass out..

It was a HUGE mistake to appoint him to fill out Coverdale's term.. The "gentlemen's agreement" to approximate Coverdale's philosophy was just plain stupid..

So what.. A dem governor should always appoint a real democrat to replace a repube...any time they can.. They should have appointed John Lewis..

We have no one to blame but the Gov.. and look what it got him?? Did the repubes say.."Wow he's fair, I will support him".. Nope.. They sad.. "Waaaah , what an idiot..he played right into our hands...Miller will do nicely until we can get a MORE rightwing senator in"..

22. Zell Miller is irrelevant.
He's retiring--a lame duck. In five years we will be asking, "Zell who?"

Why we spend so much time here fretting over him is beyond me.
