Imagine this scenario
Edited on Fri Nov-07-03 09:49 AM by HFishbine
We discuss "electablity" of our candidates by measuing them against what we see as Bush's current strengths a weaknesses, but imagine things are a little different next September. Imagine if you will, this Bush speech:

"We've added 1.2 million new jobs so far this year, 230,000 last month alone. Our economy is growing and people are getting back to work. We are making progress in Iraq. The Iraqis have scheduled their first truley democratic elections for this Decemember. Our efforts to bring democracy to the Middle East are succeeding. There have been no terrorist attacks for three years. We have secured the homeland."

I think it is more likely than not that Bush will be able to make this speech. Assuming he can, and will, who will be the best candidate to beat Bush in those circumstances? Leaving aside arguments about why this scenario may or may not develop, assuming it does, who's the best dem candidate in this situation and why?

(on edit: thanks piguy, yes, three years.)

1. it would be three years since 9/11
and we will be right where we were in Aug, 2001. Still would be lots of reasons to oust the chimp. See Haliburton.

3. Okay
lots of reasons left. But who's best suited to take on Shrub on those remaining issues?

2. Although
Dean says what I believe, he is a little to caustic and shoots from the hip to be elected. I don't think many that are too far to the left have a chance. And Lieberman needs a personality transplant to even be taken seriously. Right now, Kerry is my choice to have a chance to beat the Shrub.
