Jessica Lynch turns on Pentagon
Edited on Fri Nov-07-03 10:16 AM by Cascadian
It seems that all of the "tall tales" the Pentagon and the White House has been shot down by none other than Private Jessica Lynch. All of that Ramboesque hype no longer washes.

http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20031107/1030336.asp

I truly hope she continues to speak out more. Karl Rove and Don Rumsfeld would be crapping their pants. She strikes me as an intelligent person in spite of all she has gone through. My biggest fear is that the righties will chastize her.

30. I don't think you need to use that type of language to describe
anal rape. Anal rape is what is done, it is the "clinical" term, it is equally humiliating and it does not require euphemisms that make the act even more offensive.

5. Here is what we know
They lied about her doing the Rambo thing. They lied about her suffering bullet and knife wounds. They lied about her being tortured in the hospital. She has no recollection of the Iraqi lawyer who claims he saw her being tortured.

She has no recollection of being raped. The evidence that she was raped was a military medical report. I discount it.

Let us not also forget that they lied about a firefight in the hospital. The hospital was emptied of Iraqi fighters, there was just civilian staff in there. That is why they taped this thing on video. They knew going in that it wasn't going to be that dangerous. They lied and lied and lied, but Jessica isn't playing ball.

She could have claimed to have shot up all the Iraqis, bravely healed from her gunshot wounds, knife stabs, beatings, torture, rape, said the tv filmed rescue was necessary, but she is telling us it is all bullshit.

Jessica deserves her medal. Her bravery is worthy of a Bronze Star. A 20 year old from rural West Virginia has done what many a seasoned Washington insider hasn't. She has stood up to Karl Rove and the BFEE and spoke truth to power.

Go Jessica!

10. You discount it?
Dude you don't get fucked up the ass and not know it. You can bet your house that you would feel the results of that when you woke up. The medical records just tell you why it hurts. She's clearing away the lies and here you are trying to make her into a liar again.

Not the pentagon. Not the white house.

In fact Lynch is telling everyone what is and isn't bullshit. I don't understand why people are trying so hard to make it seem like the Iraqis didn't harm a hair on her head.

dude don't jump all over me for trying to clarify semantics.
All I was trying to say was that the "it" in the previous post referred to the medical report, not Jessica Lynch's words. I wasn't discounting Lynch's words, nor was I suggesting she was treated like a queen and fed grapes on a couch.

20. Lynch says she doesn't recall being sexually assaulted.
If her family says she was, then they are going by the same information we are.

I am fully prepared to believe that the Iraqis tortured and raped her. I just want more proof than a propogranda book.

21. think about what you are saying
If you are out cold and I hit you with a baseball bat, you would wake up and not remember it right? Doctors would tell you that you were hit with something.

Now what would you feel that would tell you the doctors were telling the truth? Perhaps pain?

Where is this moronic notion that being anally raped leaves no pain, scarring, etc. coming from?

26. Well, fortunately, I have no experience with the subject.
So what you are saying is that since Lynch would know if she was sodomized and she says she doesn't recall, that you don't believe she was. Is that correct?

If so, I understand what you are saying and it makes sense, but I see on other possibility. Maybe she was raped, she knows it and she doesn't want to talk about it. Most people would rather not have something like that made public.

her off in the desert when they were done with her? if she doesn't remember who did it then all angles have to be investigated.. not just the most politically convenient angles.

rapes within our own military DO happen.

36. Yeah, and who's to say it wasn't aliens?
I'm sure that intergallactic anal rape happens all the time too.

Although rapes happen anywhere somebody wants to feel powerful just because they have a penis, this is a real stretch in this particular situation.

Tailhook, yes. Air Force Academy, yes. Recently crashed convoy in enemy territory, I don't think so.

She says she doesn't remember. Medical evidence points to a sexual assault. The natural conclusion is that, like many POWs, including many male POWs, she was probably assaulted in such a manner by the enemy. Why is that so hard for you to believe?

The important part of this story is not the rape, but the fact that she is telling the truth about the White House spin.

19. I don't see how he is trying to make her into a liar?
I don't understand your post.

You insist that someone who had been anally raped would remember it. She says she doesn't remember it, so I assume you absolutely believe that she wasn't. Am I correct.

The previous poster says he doesn't believe she was raped either either. I don't see what you are arguing about.

I am on the fence. If Lynch said she was raped, I would not even think about doubting her. She says she doesn't recall being raped. However, I believe she was unconscious for several days and probably on pain killers for a while too. This might have numbed any pain that she might normally have felt until she was healed up.

Rape is an all too real and unfortunate part of war. It is very easy for me to believe that some Iraqi soldier might have done this. However, I am very skeptical for two reasons. First, we have clearly been lied to about most of this story. Second, I am uncomfortable with the way the information is being disseminated. The author of the book doesn't really want to touch it. Instead of saying she was raped, he says that medical records say she was raped. The is the way that weasels lie without actually lying.

I am going to give Lynch the benifit of the doubt on this. She has been through a lot and I don't believe it is my place to question her.

Can't paste the picture...From MSNBC.

"Despite her constant smile, Karima Abdul Rahman -- who is six months pregnant -- quickly becomes sad when thinking about her unborn child at the Al-Rashad Teaching Mental Hospital in the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad. Rahman was raped multiple times when the hospital was left unprotected following the war. She was one of four of the facility's patients who were raped during that time. Click "Play" to hear Rahman describe her concerns about her pregnancy, a long-lasting result of the volatile security situation in Iraq."

38. She did not ask for a Bronze Star
It was awarded to her by the Pentagon as part of their continuing spin.

She may not have earned it in your eyes for being captured in a lost convoy, but in my view she is earning it now by speaking the truth.

Anybody that can make Karl Rove shit his khakis is Bronze Star material in my book. Many have tried. This one is kicking his ass with the truth.

We don't know whether this did or did not happen to Pvt. Lynch, since she herself doesn't remember it. We do know that there's someone readily available -- Lauri Fitz-Pegado -- who is already an expert at spinning tall tales from zero evidence (i.e., the Kuwaiti incubator babies).

Please DUers and fellow liberals. Send your support to this courageous young woman. She needs to know that those on the left side of politics support her. The right wing obviously exploited her misfortune and it is the right wing (i.e. Bush and Co.) that are going to screw her and her family big time because of her honesty.
