Afro-americans and perhaps other minorities
may begin shifting to a 3rd party. Why? Repug parties choose select AA to tout that they are inclusive but AA don't buy this. They know that Watts, Rice, Armstrong, Powell etc don't represent their interest and are just pawns for the repug party. Dems voices have been effectively diluted and almost stifled in congress. More and more whites and even AA(except most members of Black Caucas)in congress have rolled over and become fooled/silenced/sellouts. The voting records confirm this. Is the 3rd party a way to go, I don't know but I do know that if the Dem party don't make some major changes it will no longer be a viable party and that is looking like soon. By the way this is not my thought ,i have been hearing echoes of this in the background.

8. Remember. We were "afro-Americans" in the...
60s and 70s. Some people just don't keep up. :7

To be honest..It's odd to see that term because it's passe. But it's not offensive. I actually wish they had never changed us from Afro-Americans to African-Americans. That's another thread though.

11. Was Epstein from Welcome Back Kotter an "Afro-American?"
It's odd that someone so "knowledgeable" about "Afro-Americans" would use such terminology. Just one more thing that makes you go, hmmmm.

13. I never could get an afro
My hair resembled a flying saucer more than an afro. I always wondered what was the secret to that perfect roundness :(

2. That would make quite the powerplay ...
This would be a third-party to watch if it came to fruition.

3. I hope Sharpton, Jackson, et. al.
can convince blacks to get out and vote in huge numbers for the Dem candidate. I believe there will be a big push for voter turnout. There better be! That's how you win.

7. Jackson and Sharpton don't matter as much as...
nominating a candidate that black and minority voters like and feel comfortable with.

10. sorry, but speaking as a black male, I can tell you some
blacks just don't give a damn. I live in oklahoma, and I can't tell you how many times I've heard "they are all alike, that's why I don't vote. why waste the time".

6. If next year's election ends in a disastor, I'm...
going independent. I believe in the Democratic party and I like what they stand for. But I don't like the way the primaries are frontloaded to allow two of the most homogenous states in the union to decide for the rest of us who will represent us in the general election. That's just not right. It's no wonder black voters are registering as indies. I will join them soon.

12. "The voting records confirm this." ???
Other than the senat dems refusing to stand with the black caucus when they were trying to reject Bush's appointment, I'm hard pressed to think of how the dems voting record "confirms" that they have sold out African Americans.

Perhaps you can provide an example or two.

17. HuH?
I still don't get what you are trying to say. Dems sold out the democratic party? The democratic party sold out African Americans. What?

And since you clearly stated that the voting record "confirms" this, maybe once you clarify what "this" is, you'll give us an example of that voting record.
