I was shocked! It was on a blurb on MSNBC this AM. They showed cops in the hallways of this high school with their firearms drawn, the kids were all laying on the floor, drug-sniffing dogs were with the cops, it looked like something out of a fascist police state. The kids had to be scared to death.

The final comment in the report was that they found no drugs????

This qoute make me think the Principal was involved in getting the raid to happen.

"We received reports from staff members and students that there was a lot of drug activity. Recently we busted a student for having over 300 plus prescription pills. The volume and the amount of marijuana coming into the school is unacceptable," said principal George McCrackin. "

What's intersting is that he can only point to one arrest, how do you know the volume of marijuana if there aren't arrests. Also the police claim that the dealers in this school all hide under surveillance cameras, and thats why they are never seen on tape. Considering this Raid brought no busts, I think these people are delusionally paranoid or something.

It would have been easy to set up extremely small surveillance camera's and point them to film underneath the other cameras, this would have probably cost less than this whole raid, and could be used long term. Then you could have made a determination that maybe the Principal and some of the staff are paranoid, and these stupid cameras could be taken out.

Also using the Student Assistance Program(SAP) drug program is much more helpfull then bringing in police. It also deals with people with alchohol problems and other personal problems, in a nonstigmatizing way.

All over my local news yesterday (I live about 10mi. from that school). Unf***ngbelievable!

They interviewed the principal and he said he would use all means necessary to keep drugs off of his campus. He was completely unapologetic.

All at once, as these kids were heading to class, an onslaught of police with guns drawn force the kids to the floor, burst open the lockers, have dogs sniff the backsacks and lockers and, I'm sure, the students themselves. Can you imagine?

I'm glad this got some national exposure.

I hope they sue the head of that school and run him out of town.

Haven't heard any feedback yet, but I can't imagine anyone with kids in any school would look at that video and be in support of this. Hopefully the parents will call for this guy to be ousted immediately.

30 years ago we were smoking dope in Jr High. Every so often a new kid came to town, wanted to buy a lot of dope. Traffic slowed down for a bit; everyone knew he was a narc. One or two careless folks got hauled ot the police station and scared straight - until the next time. That was small town Iowa.

The police and school officials didn't see a need to terrorize the entire student boyd because a handful of kids were trading around a few ounces of dope a day. What a waste of resources, student time, and adult authority. Cops should be punished and the principal should be stripped of his credentials.

What's odd is that this happened Wednesday Morning and yet it's just being shown on the Cables. How did they get the video which is upsetting everyone? It had to come from the school surveillance tapes, but I don't think McCraken would have released them to the Networks unless he's looking for a job in Asscroft's Justice Department! So, I wondered if a parent got ahold of them and gave them to CNN. That would be very interesting....who did it?

I hope it's a parent or School Board Member who's very angry about this and wanted national attention rather than some example of "Law and Order" in SC....

24. I have posted several times about what it is like in HS now.

There are weekly searches at my local (wealthy suburban) high school with drugs dogs. It is VERY stressful for the kids and the atmosphere is almost like that of a PRISON. All types of kids are arrested for possession, almost every week.

Just a couple of weeks ago my son added a new kid from this school to his social crowd. The seventeen year old has already been through rehab and is now clean and sober but he picked up smoking (tobacco) in rehab.

The stupid corporate news media aren't covering what is happening to the teenagers in this country. It isn't just the poor inner-city kids who face danger and police harassment.

I think that adults need to stop wasting so much time with gambling, porn, and all of the other "adult" activities that are easily available in this country and pay some attention to our young people but my position is mostly attacked and scorned. Oh, well, I'm doing what I can and sometimes I even receive thank you's from the kids I have helped.

My 13 year old daughter is going to the middle school that is basically across the street from this High School. I have already contacted the ACLU and I have gathered all the video tape footage and put it on a digital disk. I'm TRYING to do something but my child wasn't at that school on that day. We are calling around to locate some of the kids that were abused and why they thought they were selected.

I'm calling and writing letters to the entire school board and trust me, they know me. My husband is a retired cop and we know a crap of shit when we see and hear it.
