Cook County GOP: Send us your resumes
I know that sometimes it looks bleak, but take heart. Here in Cook County (Chicago area) the Republicans are an absolute joke. This is too funny. Enjoy!

Cook County GOP: Send us your resumes

November 7, 2003

BY SCOTT FORNEK Staff Reporter

The hapless Cook County Republican Party hasn't resorted to running newspaper want-ads and buttonholing passersby in its efforts to dig up candidates for countywide office, but on Thursday, it came close.

County GOP Chairman Maureen Murphy issued a plea for members of the public to submit their resumes for consideration as possible candidates to challenge a handful of entrenched Democrats in next year's election. "Who knows who may come forward?" she said. "We are at the threshold of growing a new Republican Party."
-snip-

Anyone interested should submit a resume and cover letter, one page for each, to the party's slate making committee: fax to (312) 977-1477; e-mail to cookcountygop1@aol.com. The deadline is Nov. 13.
-snip-

"That's pathetic," said Pete Giangreco, a Democratic consultant. "Who knows? Maybe a self-funding millionaire with a vast record of public service with great ideas for the future will mail in their resume. But I'd tell Maureen not to hold her breath."

3. I thought Republicans did well in the suburbs
like Park Ridge, Palos Park, Cicero, and Beryn Heights.

8. I dunno, Tatiana.
They are miles apart from each other. Chicago Heights? Harwood Heights? Prospect Heights? None are close to Berwyn, and I know -- because my sister has lived there for 30-odd years.

another

7. Maybe they do, but Dupage is lockstep for them.
Thats where most of our state's problems have spawned from

(including me unfortunately, I was friends with Scott Fawell's brother in high school :( )

11. My Grandma Was A Cook County Repug...kinda
For decades my late grandma was a Precinct worker in the Logan Square area of Chicago and was a "member" of the local Ward organization and she had a patronage job.

For her "payoff" she worked every election as some kind of poll judge or another. Inevitably, in her neighborhood there wasn't a Registered Repugnican to play precinct judge, so every election they'd choose who'd be the "Repugnican For A Day". My grandmother would complain when she got the short straw...LOL.

I hear they'll be holding their 2004 convention at the next Cubs World Series game.
