Can't The Rich Folks Fight?
I'm sensing that there's a little class-bias going on in the war. Seems like the soldiers on the front lines are just regular folks -- anyone know of any CEOs' sons or daughters out there?

3. As Dick Cheney would probably tell you....
they have other priorities.

Like bilking people out of money, making up tax shelters, ruining our country and the world. You know, that sort of thing.

4. Not necessarily rich, but ...
... there is a British Conservative MP, Desmond Swayne, who's out there himself, in the Territorial Army (Britain's reserve force).
http://www.desmondswaynemp.com/ta_press_release.htm

He has an interesting take on Iraq (from before the war):
http://www.desmondswaynemp.com/iraq_speech.htm
"Mr. Swayne replied that, on the contrary, it was his belief that whilst oil and power had dominated policy in the past, he believed that there were now much more important priorities. He said, “the middle east is a social and economic basket case with huge political frustration and very high unemployment. It has a medieval approach to religion with none of the achievements and tolerance that characterised Islam in former centuries. The region is typically ruled by regimes with more in common with the dark ages than the modern world.”
...
Where Mr. Swayne did have sympathy with his questioner was that he believed that much of the political backwardness of the region was due to the influence of the “oil lobby” on western policy. He said, “the overwhelming policy priority of the west has been to preserve stability in the region in order to keep oil supplies flowing. This policy has led to our supporting the most oppressive of regimes. They might have been tyrants but they were “our tyrants”."
