Want to meet General Clark in person? Zip Code Drive contest |
|
General Wes Clark is holding a Zip Code Drive.
You can donate however much you want, but if you donate at least $10, you and your zip code will be entered into the contest. Whichever zipcode has the most donors (not whichever raises the most money) will win a personal visit from the General.
He's emphasizing the people, rewarding whichever zipcode has the most donors, instead of catering to the richest by rewarding whichever zipcode raises the most money. And since zipcodes are small areas, it doesn't take many donors to get your zipcode to the top. Grab a few neighbors!
And if you're curious about the General but haven't made up your mind about supporting him fullheartedly yet, this is your chance to see him up close and decide.
Clark is not just doing big expensive fundraisers like the Eagles Concert, but rewarding the low dollar donors with the Zip Code Drive and a personal visit. You get to decide who the Zip Code Drive winner is, and he'll go out to meet you and your neighbors whether you're in a big city or a small remote rural area.

I like how it's people oriented, not just money oriented. Of course, making it people oriented will also result in maximizing the fundraising success, because it shows he cares about the low dollar donors as well, and is willing to reward them.

7. Yeah, they've been doing a lot of cool online stuff |
|
Stuff that none of the other campaigns have done. First there was the "wireside chats" and now the Zip Code Drive.

6. And even if you support another candidate |
|
$10 won't cut too much into your fundraising for another candidate, but will give you a chance to see the General up close!

It's an interesting way to generate cash because if your zipcode actually is a contender then you might be tempted to keep on forking out the $10 donations to keep it in play.

11. They count the number of donors, not transactions |
|
So to win, you would need to get your neighbors to fork over $10, instead of breaking your $100 contribution into $10 increments. And I think every zip code can potentially win the Wes Clark visit. Right now, the top codes all have less than a dozen donors, because the size of zipcodes are so small. One city is dividied into a multitude of zipcodes.
Thus, if you can get a dozen of your next door neighbors (obviously in your zipcode) to donate $10 each, you will immediately be first place. Even if they don't know much about Clark, they might be excited by the chance of a personal visit from a presendential candidate. And it will be good for local press, so community leaders might be interested in helping if you let them know about it.
Every donor of at least $10 who contributes online is counted.

I don't think Hawaii or Alaska get many visits from presendential candidates :)
