Aren't American Children used to seeing Guns in Schools?
Guns in american schools are not a new thing.

At least this time they are being waved around by law enforcement and not two druggy kids who listen to too much Marilyn Manson.

After all, since drugs could affect anyone, including the kids collectively punished by law enforcement, doesn't the means justify the ends?

If only one kid can be swayed from peer pressure and delivered to orderly conduct and freedom (and not use marijuana), isn't that a good thing?

What if law enforcement decides to use these tactics extensively and say, there is a breakdown in command structure, like Kent State, and a kid gets shot? Won't the message, 'Just say No' be reinforced even more?

Wouldn't it be appropriate for the Left to suggest that the schools are now unsafe and as such protest by organizing an official day to 'call the kid in sick' nationally and vote outrage?

Why take the kid to work, when you can take the kid out of harm's way...or mob the local PTA...or demand assurances from the school boards that this WILL NOT happen to our children in our schools or ask local representatives forcefully about how far this 'war' on anything will go?

1. Well now the kids understand a police state, like say Iraq
I guess this whole "line the kids up face down on the ground and search them at gunpoint" is just what we'll have to get used to. Eventually we'll need to make sure the grammar school kids aren't doing drugs either, and it will be easier for them to adjust when they are used to it from an early age.

Random home inspection will be next I assume.

2. WTF?
If only one kid can be swayed from peer pressure and delivered to orderly conduct and freedom (and not use marijuana), isn't that a good thing?

By being thrown on the floor at gunpoint? (this is what I saw in that SC picture; I assume that's what you're referring to)

No, the ends don't justify those means. Do you remember what it was like to be that age? I know I'd be crapping my Jordache jeans in that scenario. But I was already turned off drugs at that age, by my PARENTS.

So what kind of message do I get from this scenario? That we live in a fascist state where I am an automatic suspect because I attend high school.

3. makes me understand why some parents want to home school
Perhaps they were more fore-sighted then we realized? I hope the teachers make noise about this. I can't believe the drug warriors have taken it this far. Kids face down on the ground at gunpoint during school? What the hell has happened to our country?

5. But notice the drug warriors...
don't invade brokerage houses or banks or a shopping mall were they could find far more 'illegal' activity than a suburban high school.

"Police dogs indicated the presence of drugs in 12 bookbags. One student was handcuffed as a result, while his backpack was searched.

No drugs were found and no arrests were made."
(snip)
Goose Creek Police Department Lt. Dave Aarons says proper procedure was followed, "Some of the officers had their gun drawn in the low ready position, which is not pointing at the faces or heads of the students. It was down in a position where had somebody who had drugs on them and in fear of being caught makes a poor decision and decides to use a weapon as means of escape, we would be able to address that."

4. Good testimonial...
"But I was already turned off drugs at that age, by my PARENTS."

But if the parents fail, and they usually do most of the time, then it is good see law enforcement picking up the pieces from 'broken homes', 'wayward youth' and deliquency among our young people.

Let's not forget that law enforcement have children as well and they only want what's best for THEIR community!!

Yea, me too... mom busted me with pot and made me sit down and smoke the *WHOLE BAG* all at once...

Sheesh.

And I knew grown men who are *still* afraid of their parents.

Lovely.
