PBS Doc.P.O.V filmaker explores her fathers death in Vietnam |
|
Watching now... Heartbreaking... Right out of the gate the filmaker interviews her mom... (paraphrasing) "I answered the door and there was a man in uniform, I asked him if Don was dead. He said yes. I slammed the door and came in and got you, (filmaker as a 4year old) I went back out and told him. I want you to tell her he's been killed, and why." I lost it right there. Watch for repeats if you can...:(

2. I felt so bad for her poor stepdad |
|
How he must have felt after raising her for so many years//:(..
A college friend of mine had her son 4 days after her husband was killed in Laos..Of course they told her it was Viet Nam, but his plane was actually shot down over Laos.. She did not find out the details for years..
She never remarried.. He was also 26 when he died.. She got his last letter to her about a month after he died..
