Did anyone else see Gerald Nachtman's diatribe over Dems/Reagan/CBS?
He spent almost fifteen minutes trashing CBS miniseries on Reagan where he said that "Clinton Democrats" had written the script, produced the show and been involved in all of it. He said their view of a bumbling Reagan and a "Mommie Dearest Nancy" was NOT Middle America's view of this man (MSNBC then showed video of "middle American protestors against CBS standing with protest signs), and people who produce shows like this better wake up and realize that "middle America won't stand for this kind of thing anymore.

It was McCarthy tactics. He says he's going to do commentary like this every week with his opinion. Trashing Democrts is all right for Middle America according to Nachtman.

The hypocracy is that NBC is doing "Saving Private Jessica," which is filled with lies (as we now know) and Nachman is trashing CBS for having Democrats, according to him, produce a show unfavorable to Reagan while NBC puts on a show filled with Patriotic lies.

It's not worth it to e-mail Nactman. We know where he stands, and I don't even want to give an acknowledgement that I bothered to watch his McCarthylike lecture. But, we need to be aware that MSNBC is defintely MSRNC, and while they may from time to time have some honest reporting, they are taking a turn more rightward when they allow Nachman to still be a Managing Editor, and spew out this slander for Democrats.

2. "Saving Private Lynch" vs "Reagan Miniseries"
We know SPL is full of lies because Private Lynch tells us so but the media still will air it. The movie is a propaganda piece which is a shameless attempt to stir up support for the Bush-Iraq war.

On the other hand, you have the Reagan miniseries. The only people who are against it, are the very same right-wing thugs that manipulated the 2000 presidential elections by creating a media mob scene.

So, in sum, we know who controls the media. And it's not the Liberals.

4. You're right, KoKo. This is McCarthyism.
Your comments about the contradictions between the "Jessica" stuff & the Reagan move are completely on-target. Routine televised slander of Democrats has become socially acceptable. (Not that they don't deserve slander. They do - but they should be slandered for their spinelessness, not for their non-existent criticism of Reagan!)

FWIW, I think the significance of the censoring of the Reagan movie is being gravely underestimated. It represents another step in the descent into the abyss.

7. Michael Moore exposed Nachman's fraudulence
he laughed in his face when Nachman stupidly claimed that Moore didn't criticize Clinton for Kosovo.

Moore laughed and said "Jerry you didn't see this movie." because in fact he did criticize Clinton. Jerry looked stunned and blubbered something that didn't make any sense.

10. KoKo01, I do not watch MSNBC except for Keith Olberman's show,
it helps me keep my sanity. I'm glad you can watch and let us know what the enemy is doing, but you are right, it will do no good to write to this idiot.

Besides, remember that MSNBC has a viewership of only about 300,000 viewers, so only partisans watch this crap, not the mainstream of American viewers.

11. Olberman's pretty good
He takes shots at both sides and has a pretty good sense of humor about it. The rest of their lineup is utterly dispensable.

12. M&S....I know, that's what gives me heart to go on. Maybe posting what's
going on only drags down fellow DU'ers but I feel I need to scan to see what Other Americans are watching from time to time....to keep in touch with the Media. I really watch almost no TV.....but I scan every day.

It's upsetting most of the time...but occasionally there is "light on the cockroaches before they scurry back into the cracks.

I try to find stuff "we might need to know." But, OMG, some of it is sickening..and one want's to just "turn off the light" and let the roaches go at it!...UGH!
